I feel wrong for putting this in a metal thread, but Modern Life Is War have to be the best hardcore band ever. I suggest people check out their album called My Love. My Way. It's not as good Witness, but people more into their metal would probably enjoy their heavier material more.

I love them. The vocalist sounds like everyone he's ever loved has just died.Raw passion in abundance.

Give up the ghost are similair as well and use metal hooks.

They looked amazing live as well, just a huge shame that they split up. I think they chose the right time to do it though, Midnight In America showed a change in sound that wasn't as exciting or as passionate.

Yeah, Give Up The Ghost are good from what I've heard. I'll buy a couple of their albums soon enough.

Also, I suggest that you listen to Burn Down Rome- Devotion. Their sound is completely different to anything I've heard before, mixing post-hardcore, emo, metal and indie all into one album. Brilliant, brilliant album.

Anyone else into Melodic Death Metal (or Melodeath)? I've just started listening to some melodeath bands and I love it, the melodic instruments of bands like Iron Maiden and other Heavy Metal band mixed with the aggression of Death Metal is just a great combination. I'm really digging In Flames at the moment, Come Clarity is an awesome album. Anyone else a melodeath fan or is this thread now for metalcore and and similar -core bands only?

Yep, definitely in my Top 20 albums last year. I haven't a clue what he's screaming but it sounds so good that I love it.

what have people been enjoying so far this year? i was really looking forward to the new architects album but kinda let me down a bit. I'm all for changing your sound but was too much of a departure.

New Sylosis album is incredible, I'd go so far as to call it one of the best thrash/melodeath albums of the last 20 or so years. Digging the new Foo Fighters album as well. D.R.U.G.S are great, as well as The Defiled's new album. Not too sure about the new Lower Than Atlantis album, it's quite commercial-sounding compared to Far Q, with a lot less punk. I know it's not metal, but Panic At The Disco's new album is actually very good, surprisingly so. Anyway, make sure you listen to Sylosis' new album (Edge Of The Earth), it's very, very good. I'm starting to get into Djent at the moment, anyone else listen to it (bands like Meshuggah, Periphery, Textures, SikTh, TesseracT etc)? Also, anyone heard of Letlive? They're a fantastic Post-Hardcore band that's really growing in popularity right now, their album Fake History is awesome, well worth a download. Think of Glassjaw type post-hardcore and you'll be close to what Letlive sound like. Would love to see them live, apparently they were amazing when they supported Your Demise.

I was very disappointed by the new Architects album. They used to be quite progressive and technical but it seems all their guitarists do now is strum a few chords and palm mute through a whole song. The album before was much better, and quite unique.

yeah the letlive album is pretty good, very very glassjaw, but that's not a bad thing and current GJ aren't making music like that anymore. interested to see them live, know they played a free show about a month a go but missed it.

Saw GJ the other week, still great live and like how they have adapted the older material to fit with their new sound.

really into the new Thursday album, more laid back experiemental sound and return to form. New Protest the Hero is good for the riffs.

Yep, I've been listening to Fake History for quite some time now and saw them when they headlined the Old Blue Last in February. Easily the best hardcore band I've seen in ages. Their lead singer was all over the place, 20 seconds in to the first song and he was somehow hanging upside down from a metal bar over the stage.

I'm really looking forward to hearing Touche Amore's next album, I took quite some time to get into their first one so it'll be interesting to hear what this new record's like.

I've heard good things about their new album. Aren't they similar to bands like La Dispute etc?

Very good friends with them, but I wouldn't necessarily say that they're similar. Touche Amore are more in your face hardcore. Well worth checking out still! You going to the La Dispute, Touche Amore and November Coming Fire gig at the London Underworld in August?
