Getting documents off an old computer
I am trying to get some documents off my parent's old computer for them. The computer is 9 years old now, and can't connect to the internet, won't read my memory stick or read any of my writable DVD+Rs, it can read and make floppys which is great considering the new computer doesn't have a floppy disk.
Anyone have any advice for the easiest/ cheapest way to get the documents off the old computer onto the new one? Any help would be much appreciated.

Yep, or get hold of a cheap USB floppy drive.

If the Floppy disks will definitely work then AWFOW's idea is the most logical. It will probably take ages to do, but if you are sure it will work then you're fine.

Does the PC have an ethernet port. Could you just use a crossover cable?

In fact if it doesn't have an ethernet port then a NIC will only cost you about £7/£8. PCWorld do them for £7.99

Daves solution. Don't mess with floppies, they are 1.4mb each trip

There is a 'no-cost' option if you don't mind weilding a screwdriver.
The old PC's hard disk should be IDE. Remove it from the computer. Take the lid off the new PC and have a look at the CD drive connection. If it's a ribbon cable it'll also be IDE (if it's SATA then this won't work ) Disconnect this cable and the power from the CD drive and plug into the old hard disk. When you power up the new PC it should pick up the old hard disk as the D: drive like the CD drive would be. Copy over the relevant files from D: to C:The rest I think you can work out for yourself.
