I'm going on the Saturday, Neil Young and The Pretenders. Hoping the weather is good, if so I'll head up to town early and make a right old day of it.
With booking fees and shit my ticket was more or less £50 - that is a lot of dough in my opinion and the lineups don't really justify the spend to be honest.

I agree it's a little over priced but I get to see two bands that I rather enjoy on what will hopefully be a nice sunny day and the beer will flow nicely. I assume that there will be a few bands on before the Kooks anyhow so all good in my view.

Neil Young was amazing. I wasn't expecting much to be honest but he picked the crowd up and took us well and truly into the zone.
It was a great day, silly sunshine and a few showers just when it was getting too hot. Only downsides... The beer is ridiculous - £3.50 for a little bottle of Calsberg or Tuborg - and they had stupid bouncer goons patrolling the seated bar areas asking for ID and surrounding anyone who was smoking a rollup in case it 'might be a joint'.

Was Bruce Springsteen playing there today?
I think my cousin said something about going to see him in Hyde Park.

The boss was indeed playing. Mightily I may add.

Went yesterday.
The opening act was Jean Beauvoir. Bit old school rock and roll, but nevertheless pretty good. 2nd act was The Gaslight Anthem who were very good indeed. Brought Bruce out for one song. They're not a band I'm over familiar with, but I'll defo be investigating further. Then there was James Morrison/Blunt/Whoever. Dirge, bland, boring. Not for me. The final support to Bruce were The Dave Matthews Band. Surperb musicians. The guitarist, whose name I sadly do not know, was bloody brilliant. Good set. Bruce came on and opened with London Calling. That set the trend for the next 3 hours. High tempo, rocky, energetic. The music was as usual superb. A brilliant Outlaw Pete had the crowd screaming as did Born To Run. Not only are the songs strong, but the band are fantastic too. Roy Brittan's piano pounds through many songs and Nils Lofgren is just about the best guitarist I've ever seen. His outro to Youngstown takes a lot of beating. Theres not much you can say really. If you like Bruce you'd have loved it, if you don't you have probably thought Dad rock. You get what you get with him. The crowd were a mix of older and younger. I met more Aussies in one day than I had in all my previous years and if your a lover of young women in flowing dresses, strappy tops or short skirts it was you kinda day. Everybody danced, some like Dad's some like kids. Everybody enjoyed it. Can't wait til next time.

Was a great gig. His catalogue of classics so large he was able to leave out songs most would consider staples of his set. (The River, Atlantic City, Darkness, etc) Though at last I got to see him do Racing in the Steet live, class.
Though I cant see Clarence doing much more touring, he could hardly move I thought Gaslight Anthem were also very good, and Rudy Vaughn who played the Pepsi Max stage yesterday was also top drawer Dave Matthews band though, where do I start.. Good musicians with a lead who has a terrible voice and no personality. All very self indulgent, Hated them

Poor old Clarence. At one stage he was helped back to his chair by Nils Lofgren who is 3rd his size. His can still play a mean Sax though. I wanted to see Starsailor who were on the other stage, but didn't want to lose my pretty good position for Bruce. I see what you mean about the Dave Matthews Band. The guitarist was the band for me.

I went both Saturday and Sunday. Great line up on Saturday and Neil Young was absolutely awesome. I decided to skip the support bands on Sunday but sadly got there in time to hear all of Dave Matthews. Great musicians but boring self indulgent crap. They should not be allowed within 100 miles of a show supporting Springsteen!
The Boss was his usual quality self only slightly ruined by having a vantage point somewhere nearer Notting Hill Gate than the stage and having to listen to peoples constant chatter during the quieter numbers. Other than that a quality weekend. |

Sums up my thoughts on Dave Matthews. Fortunately got a decent vantage point pretty close to the stage for Bruce. Have to say the bits I saw of Neil Young at Glastonbury and HRC were impressive. An unbelievable version of Rocking in the Free World which seemed to last about 15 minutes! Did you see rudy Vaughn on Saturday? I saw him yesterday on the Pepsi stage, but he played the main Saturday i believe and was really impressed

Sounds Similar to Saturday apart from people constantly shouting for Born in The USA.

Please tell me I wasn;t the only person who was freaked out by £3.50 a bottle beer? I think I did about £70 on booze alone - and £6 for a burger in a bun... woah!

£3.50 FOR 500ML, Close to a pint Hardly unusual and not more expensive than the surrounding Mayfair pubs. Beer was nice and cold and service was excellent. I paid £4.50 for a half decent cheeseburger They also had free drinking water so you had no need to be robbed for a bottle of that. All in all I thought it was well organised and prices were as most events these days

Neil Young was superb. Saw him at Hop Farm last year but couldnt get into it due to a few tw*ats around me who decided to talk all the way through it. Great set this time, with Old Man my personal fav. Mccartney was great - absolutely spannered!
