Pretty decent defender unsettled at Everton could do a job here?



Anyhow apparently told Moyes ahead of todays game with Arsenal that he "wasn't in the right frame of mind to play today" and was promptly told to shut up and that he was playing.

Coming across as a bit of a tosser/coward, qudos to Moyes to do what he has done to try to keep one of his best and resisting City but are they really going to be able to resist much longer, if a player is that determined to leave?

The way Man City have handled this entire transfer (and similarly the way they handled the John Terry transfer rumour) is utterly scummy.

To go public with the offers as they have done, to talk openly about how they want to sign Lescott and about how they won't give up - despite Everton stating that there is no way they will sell him - I'd be absolutely livid if I was Moyes.

As 5 Live said though, they took him off Wolves as a bigger club, now Man City will do the same to them.

Had to laugh when an Everton fan phoned up moaning about how Everton can't keep up with the big boys now. Do they forget how the rest of the leagues must feel?!

City/Hughes has finally gone public (yesterday) stating that it was Everton who told the world (via their website) that we were after Lescott, and not us.
We used to always have press leaks about anythign we wanted to do but with the new regime, this is much tighter and we tend not to say anythign until things look pretty solid. I much prefer this and think it's more dignified.

So, Everton went public, not City.

In my opinion, if a player's fit but doesn't want to play he should be fined something significant & made to report to the boss for a 'chat' asap. Someone like that's just going to be a disruption to the whole team till the issue's sorted out. No wonder Everton lost 6-1 (even though Arsenal were very good, dare I say as a Palace fan).

It is in Everton's best interests to get rid of Lescott. He doesn't want to be there, he will make them plenty of money and they need as much time as possible to get a replacement.

By making a bid to a club at a lower level.

Man City's pursuit of him has been far removed from that.

Moyes is acting how I would want us to act were we in the same position.

Im sorry i cant agree. Every single time we see a press conference with Hughes he was bleating on and on about Lescott, the same happened with Terry. He could of said nothing. Hughes has come out of this badly imo.

That isn't quite what happened though is it.

Lescott engineered his way out of Wolves to go to what he thought would be a more successful club - he refused to sign a new contract meaning they had to sell him. He has done this again by putting in a transfer request and saying he wants to leave - meaning they have to sell him.

Both clubs losing the player have done / will do very well out of it. But they both got the player they wanted by his actions. Ultimately wolves accepted a bid from Everton and ultimately Everton will (if they have any sense) accept a bid from Man City. No one has stolen anyone, and Everton made the bids they received public, not Man City, didn't they.

Has anyone else come out and had a valid complaint about City's transfer dealings since the new lot came in? Chelsea said they were upset at City's behaviour (again Chelsea publicesed the bid not Manchester City), but were told that there was no case to answer by the Premier League.

As far as I can see Manchester City have done nothing more than bidding for players that the respective clubs don't want to let go. I would suspect their representatives have spoken to the players agents as well, but that happens in pretty much every deal out there so for anyone to complain about that would be hypocritical.

Echo the sentiment of Kolinkins here. I'd want us to be doing exactly the same. Moyes is now acting a 'prat' for not jumping at Citys money, f*ck City and htere money.

Could also damage Evertons chances because City lack another centre back to assult the league. If Everton give them that then it will be Everton who suffers.

Here, Everton are facing the prospect of losing a player to a rival. Plus, taking Moyes' word for it, Hughes hasnt called him about this once. Added to which, hughes' continual reference to him in pretty much every interview. Granted, he may have been asked about it, but he could still refuse to comment. Fair enough, Moyes could bite the bullet like Wenger and sell 2 players to a rival. Buit Everton cant afford to lose him the way Arsenal could. Moyes is rightly making it as hard as possible for Man City to get their man - they will get hi, but not the easy way. I think it's good to stand up to the money.

Why would Hughes speak to Moyes about a transfer. Hugehs wouldn't get involved. Someone would speak to the Everton CEO, not their coach.

I don't buy the playing in a different division - Wolves may have been up a year or two earlier if they had been able to keep him. If a player is under contract, why should it matter whatever division you are in? Surely a contract is a contract. Or should we always have to accept bids from EPL clubs? I thought you wanted Warnock to act in the way Moyes was?

Anyway the gulf in class between Everton and City is likely to be about the same as Everton and a leading Championship club within a month or two.

This is still all somewhat irrelevant. £20m is about £10-15m more than anyone in their right mind would pay.
