Getting on to the coach after the famous 4-3 at Villa Park, there was an old man (about 80) sitting at the front of the coach crying his eyes out. He kept sobbing, saying "I never thought I'd live to see this".
He'd probably fought in two world wars, but this "simple" football match (comparatively), supporting the team he loved moved him to such a great extent that I was totally overcome too.

I am so grateful that I was at "that" match and I still often wonder what happened to the old man on the coach. I hope he's not witnessing the decimation of his (and my) beloved club.

This famous day in 1990 ranks as the best day of my life and I think it will always be so.

Well this will upset a few, but Vegtables was pretty close about Wrexham, ie 2-2 with 3-4 minutes to go then win 4-2!

Villa Park rolling around on the floor at the back of the Holte End with any Palace fan you could grab......eeeeeemmm.

Having a blow out at 80mph rushing to see Lombardo run out at Everton.......now there was a gentleman

My best moment occured at our 2-1 vicory at Old Trafford in Nov/Dec 1989. I had driven down from Liverpool (where I lived) to find that it was all ticket for away fans. So I had to sit in the Stretford end (4.20 - a bargain). When Brighty scored the winner I remember jumping into the air before joining in virtually the whole ground chanting 'Ferguson out!'. If only. At the final whistle I remember watching the little section of Palace fans going into raptures, it was a great sight.

Mine would have to be the semi final at Villa Park, especially as I had come back two days early from a holiday to be there. I will never forget the day, as I didn't expect to beat them. The moment that convinced me were going to do the scouse twats was Andy Grays goal. Amazing stuff

Can anybody else remember Andy Gray punching seven shades of s**t out of Denis Wise at Selhurst in 1990 after Wise had gone over the ball on him. They were both sent off.
Gray then walked to the tunnel and waited for the lovely Wise who totally bottled it and went to the bench instead. I have it on good authority that Gray waited by Wise's car long after the game had ended to have a quick word with him. Apparantly Wise had the police escort him through the car park

I certainly do remember it, James - it happened near the touch line almost in front of me. Ian Wright scored a brilliant goal that night - he turned Erland Johnsen (I think) inside out then chipped Beasant from out side the box. It won goal of the month

Driving through the middle of a bloody great open space (national park) at 5.oo am and the radio announcer saying " A suprise in the English FA cup semi final....." ,I knew we had made it at last, wound down the window and screamed my head off, scared the kangaroo population. Coming home and finally fulfilling a life time ambition Palace at wembley in a cup final. Always wanted to sing Abide with me for my team .Drunk for a week .I still dig the photos out now. Was any one in the Goat House the night of the Final ?

Standing on the great old Holt End terrace with my mate, right behind the goal, watching Andy Thorn nod on for Super Al to knock in the fourth goal. Followed by the walk back down to New Street, in colours, being congratulated by the Brummies.

I wasn't there for Blackburn but these must be the best two ever.

Hopkin's goal was good, but was soured by the knowledge of what we all really knew lay ahead of us in the Premiership.

Next season is the first one for many years when we could see another truly great moment - because expectations are low.

I would say it was the Burnley game in 1979.

52,000 odd people crammed into Selhurst, of which about 50 were Sunderland supporters who had come to see us fail.

Talk about tense. It became unbearable when Burnley had a goal disallowed.

But the feeling at the end, knowing we were in the First division, was fantastic.

Then of course, in the following September, the 8th I think ......... "Eagles fly to the Top", courtesy of the 4-1 win over ipswich.

Well that Hopkin goal in the 96' play off final against Sheffield U. I would also say that seeing Palace win at Wembley was special.

Freedmans last minute goal at Selhurst in the Play Off semi 96' beating wolves 3-1 was fab.

The 3-1 Tony Adams testamonial win and the
2-1 premiership win at Highbury in 94-95, seeing all those gutted Arsenal fans was great.

Beating Liverpool 2-1 and ch@lsea 3-1 in the league cup in 93. Both games were under the floodlights at Selhurst.

Finally that win at Naarwich in 98-99, with Austins goal and thousends of eagles going mad!

Beating swindon 2-0 at home in the play-offs where in the Arthur Wait that night I experienced the most amazing atmosphere I've ever experienced @ a Palace match, my first ever win over the seaweed when Paul Brush scored a free-kick down the Whitehorse end, in about 85?? Norwich away when Austin scored & of course Hopkin & the Cup Final @ Wembley, unfortunately I can't say the semi-final V the scousers as I did'nt go!! b******s!!!!

1) Reading the scores in the Adelaide paper hot off the press 1977: Wrexham 2 Palace 4

2) A mate ringing from Hong Kong 1990 (he'd been watching it on TV, I couldn't): Palace 4 Liverpool 3

3) My brother ringing from the hotel 1979 after just having watched Palace 2 Burnley 0

At the old Den. Standing on the half way line with my Millwall mate amongst the apes I went BERSERK when Jim Canon scored the equalising goal on 89th minute. Neddless to say I made hasty exit.

It was a fine handball by Jim Cannon as he rose to meet a corner kick. Magic.

Has to be the Burnley game on that Friday night. The whole week had been unbelievably tense, and on the day. Well they opened the ground a good 4 houurs before kick off and there were crowds spilling all round the ground even at that time. The whole atmosphere before, during and after just had to be the greatest ever. The whole of South Norwood and Thornton Heath pubs went on serving right through the night (at least all the pubs I staggered into were). Brilliant times.
