The first goal against Liverpool at Villa Park - the pace of Pembo's run, the perfection of the cross, the header and shots pinging towards the goal before the ball finally hit the net. It seemed like the world stopped for a split second after the ball went in - stunned silence from the Scousers, us holding our breath because we expected it to be disallowed for no other reason other than we were Palace and they were Liverpool, and then the Holt end went crazy, jumping up and down, hugging, dancing. The noise was incredible. By the time I surfaced the match had already kicked off again and I was miles away from where I was standing before. That's where it all started, in the energy created by that goal.

Funny. I was thinking about starting this exact thread on the way into work today. Herea are mine in no particular order:

Hopkin's playoff goal
Rubins' 2nd v Liverpool 2001
Rubins' v Leicester 2000
Wright's 2nd FA Cup Final goal
Pardew's Semi goal
Kolinko's save v Newcastle FA Cup (you know the one)
The Last Stand - even thought we lost
Salako lobbing the Bristol City keeper from 45 yerds in Coca Cola Cup

When we beat Dirty Leeds at Elland Road about 4 or 5 seasons ago. We'd just been promoted and Hopkin had signed for them in the summer. I remember Lombardo scored a great goal where he chested it down and round the keeper (I think it was Martyn). I think we won 2-0 in the end. Great days!

All of the above and:

Running on the pitch at the Sainsbury end when Wrighty scored the 3rd goal at the Blackburn playoff because my view was blocked and I thought the ref had blown for full time. About 50 others done the same thing!

no-one has Dougie's goal at Stockport? In terms of importance that's got to rank pretty high, god knows what sort of team we'd have out there now if we'd gone down

My first ever Palace game against Derby when we won 1-0 through Marco Gabiadini.

Wembley against Sheffield United

Winning the First Division Championship away to Middlesbrough. (My first ever away game).

The Sheffield United game has to win it.

These are my favourite Palace moments-

The whole of the 1990/91 season.

The whole of the 1993/94 season.

The Play-off final win against Sheffield United.

The day we signed Attilio Lombardo.

Andy Gray's equaliser at Villa Park. The strain on my 13 year old emotions broke after being 8 minutes from Wembley, 2 minutes from losing and suddenly back in it again! Still makes the eyes well up thinking about it. My dad took great pleasure in telling everyone about that for years. The git. And all those Liverpool scarves in the Holte which suddenly disappeared

Other than that, Winning the 1st division at Middlesboro in 94 was a class day - except getting back on the coach to hear that Ayrton Senna had died at Imola. Dave Madden's penalty against Blackburn stands out aswell. Geoff Thomas' winning header at Anfield was sweet. He seemed to start celebrating and then remember about the missed penalty 2 years earlier so he turned to the kop and had the biggest grin ever on his chops.

I have frequent arguments at work with Spurs, Arse and Scouse fans. I realise there is no point coz they never will experience the emotions we do. The few moments of absolute elation we get out of it makes the years of suffering worth while! (I think)

No doubt like many of you I have spent ages trying to decide what was my best ever Palace moment. Was it 5 -0 against Man United, 5-1 against Sheffield United, Wrexham in 77, Burnley in 79, going top having tonked Ipswich at home, beating Chelsea in the cup with THAT drowning goal, the Blackburn second leg playoff final at Selhurst, Villa Park, Wembley, the ZDS final, Hopkins curling one, Lombardo wearing the shirt with pride, Everton away, finally winning at home against Derby, the unbelievable atomsphere at Selhurst when United finally relegated us, they just go on and on.

But for me it could only be the Blackburn Rovers victory to ensure our 1st Division survival. Not the game itself, not Matt's subdued goal celebrations, nor our unbelievable comeback. It was when it was all over and our team did their lap of 'honour'. At the back was a certain Steve Coppell, following behind in his own unassuming way. He had achieved the impossible. A bunch of kids had been gelled into something we could all reach out and touch in a way that you will probably never see again in football. They had played through being unpaid and uncertain about their future. In fact they had performed above and beyond the call of duty and they were ours. Everyone at Norwich that day when a bunch of kids were inspired to victory by Austin will understand what I am trying to say. And after we had beaten Blackburn and the team perambulated around Selhurst Park, we all - and I mean all, from Block B of the Holmesdale, through the Stephenson, the Players, the Whitehorse, even the sodding Directors Box - rose as one and sang "ONE STEVIE COPPELL, THERES ONLY ONE STEVIE COPPELL" so loudly that the ground seemed to shake.

I couldn't join in because of the lump in my throat and the tears flooding forth with pride at what he had done for us. I stood there, 40 years old, and unable to even talk because of the overwhelming emotion and pride I felt for Steve Coppell and what he had done for our club.

That is my best Palace moment and I honestly believe it simply cannot be bettered.

Palace till I die

You brought a tear to my eye ans everyones looking at me at college and thinking "whys that pr!ck about to cry".

I don't care if we've done this thread before - so many reminders of happy days - it's cheered me up no end after a truly sh1tty week.

So many to choose from but, for me, it will always be that night v Burnley in 1979 and the precise moment was about 10 mins from the end when nearly 52,000 started up the chant of 'champions', 'champions'. I can't think I've ever been prouder to be Palace than I was right then (although Villa Park 1990 is obviously right up there as well - and I wept uncontrollably at both).

Worst moment by the way was when Southampton got a penalty to go 2-0 up in the 1976 FA cup final. After having won at Leeds, Chelsea and Sunderland and - at the time being only the fifth 3rd div team to get that far - we seemed destined to win the cup. Southampton looked the easiest tie we had had in the whole competion so it it was a huge let down. I was inconsolable.
