Akinbiyi

I have a friend who works for leicester city f. c. He assures me Akinbiyi was going to be given a free transfer at the end of the season.Does anyone think he was worth all the money paid for him.

They surely would not have given a £5M player a free transfer, especially if they had got relegated when Ade is supposed to be so much better in this division.

Just read the other Akinbiyi thread with all the statistics and it occured to me that if some people devoted as much energy into supporting him as they do trying to slate him, his confidence and his play might just get a boost. But, what the heck, you all have to have your self-fulfilling prophecies don't you!

I am fully behind the man. I saw him on tv last Sunday and he hates the 433 and wants 442, and would not expect to replace Clint or Dougie.

When his chance then comes he will make the most of it.

Give him a chance his confidance is at a all time low, even on They think its all over on BBC last night slagged him off. Where does Akinbiyi drink = The Firkin Useless.

Sorry ken (hows Barbie by the way) but I think your mate is way off the mark here. When Leicester go down they will be offloading the likes of Wise, Walker Savage, Issett etc. PLayers like Benjamin and Akinbiyi would have been the sort they would have kept. i.e Lower league experience.

With the debt Leicester are in i think you will find they will be happy to ofload any player who is on a high salary this is not always easy. Any manager worthy of being called a manager will fight to keep his best players.Akininbiyi did not just fail in the top flight he completely fell apart.Understandably no premiership club wants him. How many clubs in division one could match what Leicester agreed to pay him when they thought he was worth five million pounds. Less than a handfull, and none of the others went in for him which backs up what i have said previously. If Palace had held back untill near the transfer deadline they could have got him for a greatly reduced price.

Sydney Eagle,
this bloke would be hard up nutting one against Sydney Utd, he's lost all touch and all confidence. I haven't given up on him yet, but there's no way he'll make any impact this season. The sooner we go back to Dougie and Clinton up front the better. Ade can be the Con Boutsianis super sub.
Bottom line is, from where I sit (lower Holmesdale), Palace aren't too interested in going up.

I don't think Akinbye is even close to being one of Leicester's top earners. And didn't he finished the 2000 season as their second top scorer?

Ade is an easy scapegoat - just remember that Leicester's current top scorer is James Scowcroft who has only scored ONE more goal than Ade did (ie 4)

So why aren't the likes of Scowcroft, Benjamin and Gunlaughsson being slaughtered by the media????

i think we should just encourage him i mean, what can we do francis won't sell him. if you were another manager of another club would you want to buy akinbiyi? simon jordan doesn't particulary want to loose money cause who's going to buy him for 2.4 million.

Blatantly they weren't as they already received bids from Wolves and Pompey before they decided to sell him to us.

I agree that we should not boo or slag off Akinbiye. It is not his fault that he is not that good. What I would question is Francis's decision to buy him and at such an inflated price (£200K would have been more realistic).

Francis is gradually destoying this team's promotion prospects and his decision to sub Kirowski against Sheffield United defied belief and was yet further proof that he is not the man for the job. I also hate 4-3-3 which patently does not work and the discredited long ball game so beloved of that all time loser Alan Smith and that football purist Dave Bassett.
