In the Mirror online 30 minutes ago (extract):

Crystal Palace are lining up a move for Ivory Coast international Bonaventure Kalou – brother of Chelsea striker Salomon.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock has handed a trial to the 31-year-old, who currently plays for Dutch Cup holders Heerenveen. Kalou has 51 caps and played for Feyenoord, Auxerre, Paris St Germain and Lens after leaving local club Asec Mimosas.

The versatile striker can also operate on the wing or in midfield. Heerenveen will let him leave on a free transfer, and French club Le Mans are on his trail as well.

Palace set to swoop for Kalou

used to watch him at PSG as the right side of a front three with pauleta and rothen...great player not sure how well his style would fit in in the championship, if the ball was played to his feet he could make a difference...

would be amazed if this is true with our current situation

It might be a case of shipping Moses out (obviously getting a fee) and replacing him with Kalou, who would cost nothing, on a similar or smaller wage then what Moses is on.

Although I doubt even this.

It just can't be true can it?

Surely anyone with a brain knows that this transfer is never going to happen. It's clearly just a smokescreen allowing us to sign Nugent without alerting other clubs.

To be fair, if we have a clear out of players who would attract a fee and / or are on big wages, we will need a few low wage freebies coming in so we can still put a team out . . . . . .seems as likely as any other, and (on his record at least) perhaps better than we might expect

With a budget of 0, probably not. Lets not forget that we have plenty of good younger players coming through via the academy who provide the potential future sales. We need a few older heads alongside them so that we can keep our heads above water at this level while the youngsters grow
