Birmingham City - Good or just lucky?
So they won again today.
Unbeaten in eleven, one of the best defences in the league (only 5 goals conceded at home). Are they really that good? Or are they just getting lucky (ala Hull last season). Certainly interesting. Not a team I would have predicted to have a run like they have.

Seem to be well organised and our old mate Bowyer is playing infuriatingly well

Mediocre. Apparently the whinger from the sheep-shaggers is doing quite well.
They'll finish lower mid-table though because they don't score enough.

Joe Hart their keeper has played a couple of blinders; thought he was decent at Man City but was always going to be 2nd fiddle to Given. If he keeps it up he'll have to be in England contention come June

There looks to be money available although obviously this could disrupt them somewhat. Buy a good striker and they could well finish top half although their first priority should be trying to secure Hart on a permanant deal.
Gotta say, McLeish is doing a hell of a job at the moment. |

Well drilled and well organised outfit.
Agree with Gooders that they don't score enough mind. Could be a good time to invest in the squad come January to consolidate their position, especially given the megabucks they have to spend and their reasonably threadbare squad in terms of quality players. |

They're doing pretty much the same as when they went up - keeping solid but not particularly excelling in front of goal.

they've always been a team built on solid defence, even when they were struggling in the Prem in previous seasons, so it doesn't surprise me that they're not conceding many - although it has to be said their back line has been excellent.
that said, i've been surprised how well Dann has done because having seen him play in the Championship a few times he wasn't exactly a standout performer. they may struggle a bit if the likes of Johnson, Dann, Bowyer, Larsson get injured though.

Massive respect to any manager who guides a newly promoted team to eleven games unbeaten in the Premier League.

not exciting but there are a lot worse defences in the premier league this season. I think our top flight is going backwards in that department

I know their fans have sung it for a while, but as Palace fans, if we felt "AJ for England" was a 'legitimate chant'; I for one absolutely endorse Joe Hart being one of, if not the pick of the three 'keepers going to SA2010

Great to see him telling Lampard to **** off the other day. Just seen an interview with him and he seems like a level-headed bloke who isn't in awe of someone just because they earn 100 grand a week. Promising

A 'keeper can go to low budget Prem club and properly progress. I know Foster has gone a bit downhill in a Moan U shirt, but for Watford, despite his team getting smashed, he proved himself. Capello likes form players; and IMHO that's what an England squad should be based on. If the WC was tomorrow I would take Hart, Darren Bent and Defoe without hesitation.
