Young ones, the fact Riley plays shows the sorry state of affairs for English spin bowling, and playing spin bowling. Played with him, against him, captained him many times, a very average cricketer. I am surprised to see Ball doing so well, another player I have played with, against and captained. Bell-Drummond on the other hand I am not, played a Kent Area match against him 7/8 years ago and he scored a faultless ton, being 5 ft 1 at the time.

As for Surrey signing Ponting, they needed an experienced head (heads with G.Smith) to come in this season and remove the footballers attitude that had existed under RHB and to restore some stability to what was a disatrous year for Surrey.
