Anyone watching the Yankees/Mets game? They just showed a mass brawl at the Cubs/White Sox game. All started with a haymaker of a punch from the Cubs catcher!

Just noticed a cool new feature in Yahoo that kinda does all the work for putting together all the stats.
Look at who's top of a certain pitching category! http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo....=stats&sort=42 He calls his pitchers scum.. must be tough love.. Last edited by Steve in Phoenix : 23-05-2006 at 07:31 PM. |

... good spot Steve! I prefer the batting stats, esp after David Bush's efforts last night I guess no-one picks a starter until Round 10 next year |

Let's guess which possible D-Rays name change might not be popular with Palace fans.

I didn't start following Baseball until after John Smoltz's glory year in '96 (I think it was), but he seems to have been around forever.
Anyway, they did one of those normally dull interviews with a guy in the dug-out on the Buck/McCarver Fox Saturday Baseball game today, and Smoltz was great. Funny, honest, yet still utterly loyal to his team. All dug-out interviews like this should be benchmarked against Smoltz after this, and if so I will continue my efforts to become Croydon's first Baseball HoF voter if only to get Smoltz in. BTW - You get no points for fielding but the Braves pitcher Horacio Ramirez, one day off the DL,was faster to first base and a better fielder than anyone the Yankees have managed this year! ... and, yes, Sean Marshall was a blow-out against Marcus Giles. Ho hum! |

Actually think Smoltz will get in without help from the foreign voters. Those years as a dominant closer make him a shoo-in now. Dennis Eckersley did the same thing, starter to reliever, but never went back to starter.

Don't know about him being a cert for the Hall. You get nitpickers who'll say about number of wins, only one Cy Young, etc.
Personally I'd put him, but I'm hugely biased. And yes, his interviews are always great. Loved the bit yesterday when Hudson kept throwing things at him and Smoltz said he had "great location". ![]() Incidentally the 3-6-1 double-play Ramirez was on the end of was sweet. Fair play to him for scoring the winning run as well. Dodgy hamstring and he scores from first on a double, nice job. Shocking fielding by the Cubs though.
