What a final round, did not expect Clark to win it at the start of the day but he played some fantastic golf and was a deserved winner. One of only 2 players in the top 10 to finish with a round of under 70.

Why i love this game.
Also Lee westwood deserves a major more than anyone. He had a couple of off years but the last two he has been great. Tiger is very close to being done imo

If Mickelson had won this weekend then he'd have taken number 1 in the world from Tiger. I think by the time the Ryder Cup starts Mickelson will have done it.

The thing about Tiger was he had one of if not the most solid swing on tour. What set him apart was his mental edge, the guy was amazing and not only put himself in the "im going to win" mode but put everyone else in the "I cant win against this guy"
IMO he has lost all of that now and now has come back to a quality player position (who id still back in just about every tournament). Bring on the next generation

Yep have to say there are starting to be major questionmarks over his ability to close out big tournaments

Im not a big fan of Lee's anyway, he's one of those players that looks so miserable when playing as he is "in the zone" much like Tiger used to be. I prefer players like Mickelson who are always smiling, giving away balls, acknowledging the crowd at every opportunity. I know Lee is English, and I did have him down to win for the betting masters but I found myself willing Tim Clark on last night as I felt he deserved it more and he's a more likeable character for me.
It was in the masters a few weeks ago where the commentators were talking about the same thing and saying how Tiger is being more friendly and responding to the crowd more, comparing it to Palmer and Nicklaus, Palmer was liked immediately because he was the nice guy on tour and responded to the crowds reaction in a positive way whereas Nicklaus wasn't liked until the later years of his career as he came across as quite moody whilst playing......or it could have been the other way around.

It would be good if Lee could get himself into a position where he is 3rd or 4th going into the last day and a couple of shots back, rather than being in the pressure situation of leading

My father hit a hole-in-one on the 2nd Hole, Par 3 at Chelsfield Lakes a couple of weeks ago. Its only taken him 34 years to get one, bless him,

How odd, I have a very different take on Westwood, would not say he comes across like Woods at all. I always thought he looked fairly cheerful and happy go lucky, doesn't moan in interviews and seems to appreciate life has dealt him a pretty decent hand. Maybe he's not so much like that any more, will keep a look out. As for Mickelson you can be a little bit too cheerful in this life, mind you he likes a gamble (a lot by all accounts) so can't be all bad ![]() |

I never have and probably never will get a hole in one, I have had a couple of tee shots on par 3's put to about a foot or two but they were by complete luck and then if I remember rightly I then missed the birdie putts anyway!

Yep, am sure there is a great horse racing analogy there somewhere but agree he's not a good front runner, well not in tournaments as big as the TPC / Masters anyway. Maybe he just needs to do it in one major and that would change though |

He and Poulter are by far my favourite golfers on tour at the moment, Poulter for his outrageous outfits and what he brings to the game in that sense, Mickelson because he strikes me as a normal kind of bloke who likes to play golf, not big headed, always smiling and always willing to put a smile on someone else's face by giving them a ball, glove or just shaking their hand. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to shake his hand myself and get an autograph if/when I go to Castle Royal later on this year for the Ryder Cup!

My wife was within 2 inches yesterday afternoon in a mixed match against Purley Downs. Lovely tee shot with her hybrid pitching on and curving round behind the flag. From the tee we all thought it was resting in the hole against the flag stick but sadly it was two inches behind.
