BBS Betting Masters - World Cup 2010 special

Just like the World Cup we’ve got 32 participants and 8 groups. The best 2 from each group goes through to the next round. Only bets on the World Cup is allowed.

Each contestant gets picked (by random) one of the national teams competing in the World cup 2010. And then they have to do 5 bets related to there team (can bet against them and so on). Shouldn’t be a problem finding bets as there will be 50+ bets possible to do on any one game in the World cup.
After the league stage the people with most points go through (top 2). They are then up against a person from another group (following the same schedule as the real WC, A1 vs B2 and so on, in the next round).

Number of bets:
Group stages (32 participants): 11-25.June – 20 bets (15+5) – 48 games to bet on.
2. Stage (16): 26-29.June - 10 bets (8+2) – 8 games
3. Stage (8): 02-03.July – 10 bets (8+2) – 4 games
4. Stage (4): 06-07.July – 10 bets (8+2) – 2 games
5. Stage (5): 10-11.July – 10 bets (8+2) – 2 games (final and bronze final..)
(in the last couple of rounds..bets will be pm'd hidden to me (or someone else) before posted..when few matches to bet on

In addition to the regular bets, one can also do 2 “long-term” bets.
1. Who do you think will win the WC?
2. Top scorer?
Search for the best odds and put it up (name the bookie), I would recommend using www.oddschecker.com
These bets will only come into play if you are one of the 2 finalists.
Bets have to be placed before the start of the tournament.

*The regular rules..
1. Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2. Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 14 days. Maximum bet on a single game is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis.

3. After the group stage the qualifiers all start on 0 points (same for each round).

4. Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission

5. Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

6. Singles and upwards accepted.

7. For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

8. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

9. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

10. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

11. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

12. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together.

That was a lot of...if you got any questions (I know we’ve got a few new faces in the BM this time), then don’t hesitate to ask, either on here or via pm’s.

Would also stress the need for fair play.
In special instances copying bets of you're opponent is not allowed. If say to just block him out. Duplicated bets (scenario: on the last day of the round, you're opponent has betted on Germany to win. And you are a few points ahead of him and you do the same bet).
I reserve the right to referee this problem...as they say in boxing, we want a clean and fair fight..

Is also why we in the last few rounds (from stage 3), will do secret betting. Meaning PM's and then all posted up when all bets are in.

Stig - I thought there was something about some of our bets having to involve our own team in the first round, but I can't see any reference to that rule now?

Ah, sorry - it's mentioned right at the top of your instructions - so 5 of our 20 bets in the first round have to concern our own team in some way?

I stuck my GB bet up a while ago on the draw thread: Gonzalo Higuain @ 22/1 with sportingbet (it's now 16s).

As for the winner I'll go for England @ 7/1 with Bwin .

Mmh, I placed a bet with bet fair on Holland to win and Van Persie to be topscorer a few weeks back. Since when the odds have tumbled on both. my thinking was to keep the Van Persie bet and lay the Holland bet

However I still go with Van perise as top scorer. Could I have an odds ruling?

Also does anyone know if there is anyone offering odds on top scorer in the group stages?

Another question - if there is a massive variation between buy and sell on betfair what odds are taken

sorry to be a pain in the arse

John, you would have to take the odds that RVP is when you post up your selection on here.

Lay bets are not allowed (a much debated ruling) and any Betfair odds you take must be available when you make your post so if there is not much liquidity in the market you might be best quoting odds from a fixed odds bookie.

Can't see any bookie offering top scorer in the group stage

Does that help?
