A French climber to win tomorrow before the big guns battle it out in the final stages Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Any one from Le Mevel, Pauriol, Fedrigo, Rolland, Coppell and Riblon for example.

Looking at that profile and where the stage finishes, does that mean a trip up Alpe d'Huez tomorrow is in order?

Good battle on the Alpe in the today, 1st bit of the Critrium du Dauphin I've watched this year; while Contador won he looked as though he didn't look as imperious as he has in the TdF - as others have said he looks a bit heavier than normal. V impressed with Brajkovic though.

Great performances today from Boassen Hagen and Brajkovic yesterday.

Not sure how much Contador wanted it yesterday but it was great seeing him being reeled back in by the youngster every time he tried a push.

Good event for the two new teams - Sky and RS.

Boassen Hagen has an enormous amount of promise - I remember him impressing in the Tour of Britain a couple of years before winning it last year. However, if his performance in the Critrium du Dauphin TT is typical, he'll need to improve in that area to fulfill that promise in the major stage races.

Tour of Switzerland: Cavendish had a nasty crash the other day but got away with it pretty lightly compared with others who ended up in hospital. The next day, before the start of the stage, the other riders made a minor protest about Cavendish's dangerous riding. I don't think there was any intention from Cavendish to deliberately bring riders down.
Anyway, back to today with a brutal stage including, I believe, over 4,000m of climbing. It'll be interesting to see how some of the TDF riders get on, although some, of course, won't be giving too much away.

See why they got upset though - it wasn't impressive riding
If I don't post on here the rest of the week - good luck with L’Ardchoise (it is this weekend isn't it?)

Yes it is. Thanks. I wanted to go out for one more shortish ride this week (yesterday or today) but the weather's been very stormy, nothing like down in Draguignan where my brother-in-law lives so I didn't chance it. I start work tomorrow at 11 o'clock so I might gout for a cheeky 30/40km first thing in the morning. Driving down tomorrow evening to friends' nearby for the traditional pasta party (and England v Algeria). I probably won't post anything before Sunday afternoon. My first objective was to do under 10 hours. My mate wants to do 8 hours 15mins, so I might have to aim at about 9 hours. What will be to my advantage is that the weather will be dry and not too hot.

While, it wasn’t great riding by Cav, you are right of course about the reaction. I’d quite forgotten the pile up on the Champs Elysee caused by Abdoujaparov which I just watched on YouTube, Cav's certainly wasn't in that league - it was quite incredible

I watched the final stage of the Tour Series yesterday evening which I’d recorded a few days ago. It is predominantly a team race with 10 races of about an hour duration around town centres courses of about 1.5k. While the quality of teams is patchy – the top 3 Motorpoint – Marshalls Pasta, Endura Racing and Rapha Condor Sharp provided a good competition, with Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta running out worthy winners after some really exciting races.

The winning team included the 49 year old (tomorrow) Malcolm Elliott who was as impressive as anyone in the series using his experience to the full. It seems though it will be his last year competitively in the saddle if his comments after Thursday’s race are to be believed. But then again he retired in 1997 ….
