Froome looks a very good prospect. He could be an alternative if Brad has an off-day.

Wow that was a surprise!
Where did Froome's ITT come from? As Forza, suggested I think Brad went out a bit too quickly, perhaps trying too hard to mTch the splits of Martin and Cancellara and seemed to pay for it in the last few km.
Will be interesting to see how Sky play this for the rest of the race, Frome is clearly more than able to hold his own in the mountains, a good problem to have though.

Nice bloggings Griggs. The Giro's first week certainly didn't seem like a warm up to me though!

Re 'Volta' - if people want pronounce their spanish with a catalan accent then I certainly don't have a problem with that! ('tis a small part of my bloodstream)

Cheers for the comments. The point I was trying to make was that the first week wasn't a warm up. Some of those climbs!

Really nice blog Griggs, worth a read for sure. Be interesting to see what Wiggins (and Froome) can do in the next mountain stages. Very difficult to get an idea of where he is, he has definitely improved as a climber, I think based on the dauphine he willl need someone to pace him up a climb if he is going to do anything. It seems its the stop start climbing that really affects him.

Tomorrow could see Wiggo & Froome having another chance to attack like they did on Sunday. The final climb is a long drag up - it touches 10% in places but nothing too mental. The climb tapers off to the end with a flat section. Hopefully they can repeat the trick.

Just watched the highlights from yesterday. Great day for Wiggo but even better for Froome. Considering I, like those on commentary, thought he was a climber more so does this mean he could be a GC contender in future?

He finished 5th in commenwealth games TT last year, so that he should be decent shouldn't shock the pundits. Strangely I was directed to that UK story from l'equipe who are reporting that bilharzia is a 'rare' tropical diesease - they repeat this several tiimes. That's why I mention this - I only 'researched' (googled about) this over the last couple of days or so. From the NHS website on Schistosomiasis (bilharzia):

I hope that Froome, Sky & British Cycling can help raise awareness of this issue - which I gather is under-reported in the sense of the symptoms being similar to those one would expect in poverty - and help thereby do something about it. It certainly has more potential than that rainforest thing.

Persistence paid off. Always pays if you feel you have the legs to attack after a rest day I think because so many riders seem to not be able to hit the ground with the same intensity.
