From my mate's last update about the Wolves:

"We got 5 technical fouls in 10 seconds, they were fed up with the bad officiating and went off, it was ridiculous and liberating. The whole crowd was jeering and coach Rambis was thrown out of the game, still lost the game, but felt good to let the refs know what was up"

Billups is a Denver native was a big deal made of him going back to the Nuggets the other year.

My mate mentioned that the draft in 2008 was rigged so Bulls would get the first pick and draft Rose. Never heard that personally but as they were a big team in decline and he is an Illinois native that wouldn't surprise me from Mr. Stern.

It wouldn't surprise me if it did happen from time to time, as the NBA seems to concentrate on it's bigger TV markets such as New York and Detroit... It does make you wonder where any possible new Franchises in future might occur other than Seattle given that there's loads of cities across America that at one time or another have had an NBA team and lost it due to lack of interest...

Yes, the rights for the Hornets name has been sold back to the NBA, so it could be on the cards.

I have to say, middle America seems to lap this kind of stuff up. Oklahoma had great crowds even when they were screwing up each week.

But I don't think it's just down to location. The Charlotte Hornets were one of the best supported teams in the NBA, until the owner started acting like a dick, and a new owner came in with the Bobcats who was equally twattish. They're only just beginning to build the fanbase back up again. Similarly with players, you have to wonder how much longer the Cavs fans will turn up to see their crappy performances without Lebron.

Many factors come into play.

It poses an interesting dilemma that... The NBA did say that if there was an NBA expansion it'd likely to be with Seattle who would get the Supersonics monica... However if the Hornets are indeed moving on imagine if they turned up in Seattle.

Another name touted around for a re-emergence of the NBA is Kansas City.

What the NBA's purchase of the Hornets means for Chris Paul

The NBA’s decision to purchase the New Orleans Hornets from George Shinn has obvious potential ramifications on the future of star point guard Chris Paul.

While Paul and commissioner David Stern avoided directly answering questions about what the league’s takeover of the team may mean for Paul, conventional wisdom holds that Paul won’t be traded as long as the team is looking to make a profit from the sale of the team. The franchise, after all, is much more attractive to potential buyers with a marketable player like Paul on the roster.

But Paul, who becomes a free agent in 2012, has said he wants to see the team improve into a legitimate title contender before he makes a long-term commitment to New Orleans. And Paul was happy about Gary Chouest becoming the majority owner and believed that Chouest would set the team in the right direction, FanHouse reported. Chouest owned 35 percent of the team but decided against purchasing a majority share from Shinn, which prompted the NBA to step in.

Paul suitors, however, believe a deal can still be made with the Hornets. When asked by FanHouse whether the league taking over the team means the market for Paul will open up again, a front-office executive replied "absolutely."

Meanwhile, FanHouse also reported that the NBA may be looking at the possibility of moving the team to Kansas City and Sprint Center, a state-of-the-art arena built in 2007.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, while speaking with WWL radio, said his state has been working with the current management group and the league on keeping the team right where it is, but there are limitations.

"We've made it clear that they understand the state is facing significant financial pressures," Jindal said. "We're not going to do anything that jeopardizes funding for higher education or health care."

Jac Sperling, the man picked by the NBA to oversee the Hornets after the league's takeover, said Tuesday that his assignment is to make the club more attractive to a buyer who would keep the team in New Orleans, his hometown.

"I grew up here. (Stern) asked me to help," said Sperling, a sports attorney who is also vice chairman of the NHL's Minnesota Wild. "Read into that what you want, but I think the commissioner, he's been very positive about this city going back to when the team was awarded in 2002, (then moving the team back from Oklahoma City) after Katrina ... and also the awarding of the 2008 All-Star game.

"We're in a difficult spot, yes, but I think his selection of me is a further indication of what is in his mind. He wants to

try to make this asset more attractive so perhaps a local buyer will step up."

Also Tuesday, Deadspin.com published the Hornets' audited financial statements for 2008 and 2009. The documemts show that the team reported about $6.4 million in operating losses in '08 but a $5.8 million operating profit in '09. The team received $3.4 million from the NBA's revenue assistance fund in '09, Deadspin noted.

To cut a long story short the most it looks like if they are likely to go anywhere then it'd be the Kansas City Hornets.

Kansas City did used to have an NBA team (I forget who... Possibly the Royals / Kings?) and they have a state of the art arena built in 2007 in KC.

I was trying to work out earlier which big US cities don't have an NBA team and would be open to taking on a franchise ...

There was something posted about a year ago where it said which cities would most like get an NBA team and in the top 10 was London!

These are pretty much the ones people have mentioned in the US...

Seattle (Washington)
St. Louis (Missouri)
Las Vegas (Nevada)
Omagh (Ontario, Canada)
Kansas City (Missouri)
Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania)
Cincinnati (Ohio)
Austin (Texas)
Anaheim (California)
San Diego (California)

From general census I kind of gather, Seattle will be a dead cert one day... St. Louis and Kansas City as they have had teams in the past could be possible, San Diego and Anaheim are in a region where there are already 4 NBA Franchises, Cincinatti was a split really. Some people said that Ohio could do with a rivalry but then others have said that there's no need for another franchise in the state. Austin is too small (apparently) and there's already 3 Texas based teams.

Las Vegas they seem to think is also nailed on one day soon to get a Franchise... Massive potentiall apparently. Mentions for Pittsburgh but nothing major, and I don't really know enough about Omagh to comment.
