Benitez To Inter Milan?
Just saw in The Sun that they expect Rafa Benitez to be confirmed as Inter Milan manager in the next 48 hours. Now this is the Sun of course...
but if true, that's a bit of a poor decision on Inter's part! Indeed it seems to be true, as sky sports think so as well http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...195243,00.html

Benitez is a good tactician and his style will be more suited to Serie A than the Premiership. Hopefully he wont be caught on camera in any Italian operas dancing around like a goon.

Surely a poisoned chalice, how can he top Jose's achievement of last season?
He's arrogant enough though the dancing goon!

Yes it's very unlikely he will repeat the treble but they should win the league and still be a strong force in champions league. Bear in mind Mourinho would regularly come unstuck against Benitez in the champions league with those Liverpool v Chelsea games, I think that's why there was quite a bit of bad blood between them. I think Mourinho is one of the two most talented managers in world football today (the other being Ferguson) but he always throws his toys out the pram when someone employs good tactics against him.

Rumour that he wants to buy Mascherano from Liverpool for Inter already.

I presume they see him as a "get the defence right and build from there" coach in the same way as Jose can be. I don't think as man managers though they are remotely similar. I don't think Rafa engages the loyalty of players in the same way Jose does nor does he seem to build that special bond that players always seem to have with Jose. Be interesting if those players like Eto and others are able to play with the same passion for Rafa.
Mascherano makes sense I suppose. It would enable Zanetti to stay at full back instead of being pulled into deep midfield roles, and they do have plenty of other Argentine players there. I would have thought if they get their money back (£18m?) Liverpool will snap their hands off. Honestly, if he engages the players personally and doesn't let his pride make him make too many changes, this is a very good side that only needs guidance to keep it chugging along very well both domestically and in Europe. But will his pride allow him not to tinker too much with it?

He might do ok next season, same as at Liverpool...took over Houllier's team and won the "Champons Leege"
Couldn't do it with his own players. Torres/Mascerano, good buys...rest avg to poor. Overrated - FACT.

I don't like Benetiz but his pragmatic style of play is perfect for Italy.

Well whatever you think of his as a manager, that is a very kind gesture and he made it low key as well. Not done for publicity but out of goodwill.
