http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ol/8925912.stm

Pity a few more chairmen weren't that way inclined. Agents are squeezing clubs out of money that most can ill afford to pay. Players should pay the agents.

Sat next to a Blackpool fan on a train. He reckons, like me, that more chairman should follow the sensible route that their ex-chairman was taking.
No idea who will take over as chairman |

Amazing - there are blackpool fans on 606 saying that he was out of his depth in the Premiership. Sounds to me as though he was a voice of sanity. |

Oyston? His old man owns the club. Did he not spend years inside for rape?
The old man that is. |

i know, its mental, stupid fans. 10k a week is plenty really. they are a small club who may stay up but will always be a bad run from relegation. just want to grab these fans and shake them and say open your fecking eyes. hes doing it so you have a club in the future which is far more important than staying in the prem spending someone elses money getting players that wont give a shite when you get relegated but still want their 40k a week phil brown on sky on sunday said i he were back at hull he'd have done something different. he said he had the chance to get zamora but didnt want to spend the extra wages he was asking for. HAAAAA. so all the shit they are in financially and the thing hed have done differently was to spend more it beggars belief. what an imbecile. gone are the days of a manager thinking its part of his job to balance the books obviously. anyway well done former blackpool chairman, i salute you!

Simon Jordan obviously spoke out about it a decade ago. Shame no-one supports those with morals in this world like SJ and Oyston.

So the Blackpool owner Oyston has good morals? |

I totally agree. It makes no sense whatsoever. Even in commodity trading when a broker is involved, it is the seller that normally pays the commission, not the buyer, unless it is specifically agreed otherwise (rarely). Same with real estate agents - it's the vendor that pays, not the buyer. But even this is stretching the imagination when it comes to football. If the agent is representing the player, then the agent is justifiably the player's sole financial responsibility. Neither his former employing club nor his new employing club should be picking up the tab. The way football is currently structured financially is totally perverse and ultimately, it could kill the game, unless reasonable level wage caps and players paying for their own agents becomes the norm. |

The same morals that allowed a football club to build up 20m in debt and almost took a club out of existence, you mean? Oyston and Jordan are poles apart.

Whilst it was admirable, I don't think you can simply state Simon Jordan has "morals" simply because of his entirely logical stance against agents. He is the same man who left St Johns Ambulance bills and those of many small local businesses go unpaid. |

It says something about society as a whole that not one board member fought against Oyston's departure. Wouldn't be surprised to see money being funnelled out of the club left, right and centre now.

you could argue that his morals regarding agents were spot on though no? im sure we could have been in a lot more debt if he had have been reckless with agents fees, transfer fees and wages. it was other areas of his ownership in which i feel he failed greater. not being able to work with other people and failing to bring in outside investment/partners, and allowing selhurst to lose some of its matchday appeal, largely to do ticket pricing for my self

No doubt some fat-walleted Arab/Russian who'll use it as a vehicle to launder money. I think that they are as much to blame as Sky for killing football.

more to this than meets the eye - turns out he could be made bankrupt - thus disqualifying him as a chairman under football rules...
