Are they really so bad, I have always had an affection for them, a proper football club like ourselves. (from my Dad who had some lovely Millwall friends)

We've had some great players off them.

Scum. With most clubs there is a minority of scum element within a fanbase. With Millwall it's a majority of their support which is scum.

I couldn't even begin to tell you the amount of people i've met who think they're 'hard' just because they support Millwall. They've never been to a game, couldn't name their captain but because Millwall have the tag, they'll say they 'support' them. They're just as bad as the London based Man Utd/Liverpool fans who support them 'just because they win'.

Can't stand them.

Lad at my school was been to one Scumwall game - the P/O final last year, and suddenly is the worlds biggest millwall fan. Couldnt even tell me who scored the winne against us, or what league they got promoted from. Another one thinks hes the dogs bollocks coz hes millwall but my little sister could have him. *****. You talk to people who had to work in the Arthur Wait Stand when Millwall were there Saturday before last.

Once again, they caused a lot of damage - trashing fixtures and fittings and threatening members of staff.

Over the years I have met loads of Millwall fans - they have always been fine with me - and I'm not talking about one or two people here - perhaps I've been very lucky, but I think I've seen enough to know that in the main they are just ordinary people like at any other club.

On a matchday though - there is no doubt that all the herberts come out of the woodwork - like a swarm of flies that have found a freshly laid pile of shit.

There is no point in working out why they have such a large contingent of lunatic 'followers' - I've heard all the talk about it's because of their working class roots and that their attitude reflects the fact that the club was mainly followed by Dockers for generations, tough people who didn't mind what they said and could get rowdy if things didn't go their way - it's a fact that Millwall have a history of crowd trouble stretching back almost as far as the formation of the club.


I think the simple fact is that Millwall have built up an image that attracts a particular type of idiot - in the 70's and 80's Chelsea and West Ham had a similar type of following themselves and, to a lesser extent Spurs and Arsenal could have games where hundreds of these types of cretins would turn up.

My feelings about Millwall are the same as Charlton and also Wimbledon - they make a bit of noise - they may have the occasional moments when they get in the news - but they are nowhere close to being as good as Palace.

And never will be.

Its demographic thing. The west ham fans are just as bad. It's not even the violence that annoys me. They are just a whole bunch of danny dyeresque goons but lack his level of charm and self deprecating wit.

I went to see the Kevin Mitchell fight at upton park and it wasn't long before i actually didn't care who won (I always back the brit usually). Being in the bobby moore stand with all those west ham dipsticks.

Not to defend Millwall in particular (who's fans in the vast majority I have had universally bad experiences with) but one reason I stopped posting on HOL was due to a plethora of threads similar to this (but without the racism and with the bad language asterisked)

I think that this particular type of thread is more a sad bedroom bound teenage "lad" thing than anything particular to Millwall
