Most legged it, a crazy and outnumbered Palace few didnt and it kicked off for a few minutes as the Old Bill poured in again with their fancy truncheons trying to regain control. I was watching from about 50 metres away.

I heard that on that day, the Albion Hoolies (who come out from Moulsecoombe - voted britains 6th worst no go area a few years back- and Whitewark, on special occasions such as this) also overan and smashed up one of your main pubs.

Now thats not something to brag about to all you 'ard nuts who fink palace wun every time', we can well do without violence, but as for nutters we certainly have a large contingent.

Very large against southern/london clubs and especially Palace.

The first time I took my youngest brother to watch Albion was away at Aldershot in FA cup, it was one of a rare few occasions I went on the supporters coach. He was a little apprehensive, i told him it would be fine. On driving through Aldershot, we literally witnessed a mini war zone. the coach stopped at traffic lights and we saw 2 blokes throw a bench through a pub window and there were pockets of fighting kicking off all around. One bloke went flying into the flowers and newspaper stand outside a Londis.

The night England were knocked out of Italia 90, there were riots and looting in Brighton.

These are not the sort of blokes that run.

I always seem to remember/and or hearing of Palace having the upper hand on their visits to the coast but Brighton doing the same when they came to Selhurst.

I think thats just the nature of the beast. When at home, the police know all the places they need to go, they know where it normally would flare up and make sure those places are covered. As for away support you get a higher concentration of people who 'have the same objective' coming together in one place and travelling en masse, whereas the 'we're all in it together' thing goes slightly out the window when you're at home, people drink in separate places, turn up at different times, sit in different parts of the ground, etc.

Or at least thats how I see it.

and as someone who still gets out there and follows my club around the country, who has stood on most of the terraces on this thread, i have seen much of the stuff that will be seen around most clubs, all clubs, yours included. The years have Obviously clouded your memories.
I can even remember going down to Brighton in the summer months on several saturdays and taking over a pub called smugglers or something similar .
The place was turned into a cockney stronghold made up of Palace/westham/arsenal/chelsea fans.

Wrong site for all this but as someone who was there i will correct one thing WHP said.

I can't be bothered to quote WHP but the day they attcked the DOC was a night game (0-1) and there was just a few of us old timers in there ,many with kids,but they didn't get in as we barricaded the door
