Insane money...more than Dzeko, Tevez, Rooney and Villa!! Losing Torres has obviously panicked them...35mill could buy them 2 exceptional, proven strikers but not necessarily if they only have today to find a replacement I guess.

West Ham were offered Carroll for £1m in 2009, but turned him down, allegedly.

Carroll is a very one dimensional player, and his technique and touch for the ball is bizarre. He has good positioning, strength and shot. Torres can do pretty much everything and he can create goals out of nothing. If Liverpool don't provide good service to Carroll they will regret this signing.

I've seen a few good tweets on this today.

One was along the lines of: beware the half season wonder. Amr Zaki 11 goals in 19 games in 2008, Andy Carroll 11 goals in 20 games in 2010.

Based on his form this and last season, Carroll's valuation must have risen, but to £35million is over the top, IMO he's not better than Darren Bent, and he was overpaid for also. Crazy money.

Mad for Newcastle to let Carroll go, probably end up relegated. And Liverpool arent any bigger than Newcastle these days - long time ago when a Liverpool bid meant the player immediately became unsettled and would leave. Carroll would have been better off at Spurs and realistic Champions League.
