The standard apple in most boozers, bow serves its purpose, must admit I do miss a bit of blackthorn.

Had several of these in the Christopher Creeke in Bournemouth before the game last Saturday. I suspect this may be in some way linked to me nearly falling down the stairs at half-time ![]()

Not entirely true - I remember many years ago one member of our group at the Greyhound in Carshalton slowly falling off the end of his bench, but still managing to keep his pint upright on the table - he seemed to rotate around the pint!

I went to the Brighton beer festival the other week and it seemed pricey. That was rebalanced by the £2 a pint Soap Dodger cider. Flat, cloudy but slighly vinagery but for that price you can't go wrong

Hi guys, new to this thread but since living down here in Dorset i have learnt to respect the power of the local ciders, i won't go on about the many individual orchards that produce them but if you are ever anywhere near Swanage their is a pub just outside it in Worth Matravers called the "Square and Compass" this is a boozer you must experience. The guy that owns it is the son of the son of the son of the original owner and it is the best pub in the county, he's recently taken over an ancient orchard and is producing his own ciders but it also has "Cider by Rosie" made by two sisters near Blandford "Old Rosie" plus a couple more made by Westons and several by Hecks, all poured out of huge standing barrells. Wonderfully cloudy and varying in colour from orange to light yellow and alchohol content ranging up and over 8%.
With a view across the fields to the sea, and a few free roaming chickens around your ankles trying to catch a falling crumb from your pasty it is a fantastic place to sample the mighty apple |

i had some cider by rosie when i was in swanage a few weeks back - nice enough.
had plenty of ciders at the earls court beer fest last week - favourites were; Jonty's Early Night Cider, Westcroft's Janet's Jungle Juice and Doublevision. Janets Jungle Juice has been a favourite for a few years now. Loverly stuff.

What a marvelously evocative post. If I am ever in the area I will make a point of visiting this pub even though it sounds suspiciously like it may be frequented by masons. ![]() |

Mike does make some cracking ciders. I've fallen up the steps leaving there on more than one occasion after spending too much time mixing different barrels to create the perfect Broome Farm cider. ![]()
