Let's all be A&R men & ladies
Let's be us honest; we all thought A&R would be a cool job back when when we read the NME religously. So, let's pretend we all still know what we're talking about and play a little game of 'told you so.'
Simple thread with few rules. No.1 - must be a new act. No. 2 - We needs the band/ artist name, a link to auidio/ youtube, and when you first heard/ saw of them. This is the thread that screams "I saw them when they were (insert cliche here)." No league tables, no pats on the back, just the good people of the BBS delievering & sharing wonderous music of finest ilk.

Gun start;
http://soundcloud.com/kylenene/30041...ntrix-full-set Saw this band supporting Electric Soft Parade's first gig in London in 4 years a few weeks ago at the Amersham Arms, and they completely stole the show. 'Brave Marine Explorer' is a future xfm playlist song.

14 Feb 2008 The Jim Jones revue were second support (i.e bottom of the Bill) for the Godfathers.
They put on an incendary performance that you couldn't ignore Have seen them several times since both in London and Brighton they are now well known and live!

The Virgin Marys, saw them first 2 years ago when one of my oldest friends joined the band (we had played in a band together for years before).
the are going to be BIG. Playing loads of major festivals this year, have just completed their own UK tour and are off to Europe next month and have also come backj from supporting Skunk Anansie on their full european tour. brillant, simple rock music with no pretentiousness....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7clibOhA_4 http://www.myspace.com/thevirginmarys |

I've given up trying to predict the next big thing, especially after the failure of Ida Maria to break into the big time and having heard some of the awful rubbish that she's churning out now.
However, I did see Anna Calvi a couple of years ago in a virtually empty room supporting Dogs. I'll happily admit that I didn't foresee commercial success for her then although I did like what I heard. I'm very pleased if somewhat surprised at her current popularity.
