Anyone know a good (free) client/software for e-mails?

Given up on Windows live now need something thats a bit more useable

I use Outlook, but obviously that's not free. Tried Thunderbird in the past and it seemed ok, but it couldn't file my emails the way I wanted to (by categories) so went back to Outlook
