Recommend Me A Tablet

I turn again for wisdom to the BBS, my 2 kids want tablet PC's for Christmas. I'm looking at around £150 mark, to be used for a little surfing, watching videos etc.

Any good suggestions / ideas welcome.

Thanks Guys

I'm toying with this:

2 questions, 1st is, what antivirus is best for a tablet? I use AVG on my pc, does this also work for tablets?

2nd is, Asus transformer (not prime) or Motorola xoom (original one)?

I want a tablet that is fast, has a screen that you dont have to bash in order for it to figure out you are trying to use it, can use android app store and will browse the web, I dont care about camera's or 3g or any other nonsense. I just want a fast one that I can get whatever apps I want. I looked at the Archos g9 80, but apparently there is a problem with the screen, however for 200 quid I am still thinking about that one too. Any other ideas?

Gotta be the Archos 7 for the price. Quality brand and great specs for £150.

Would stay away from the Shanzhai types such as the Scroll Essential if you want a bit of longevity out of it.

I wish you could still get those tablets that were like a huge square lemon refresher sweet, back in the 70s. But I suppose I'm digressing...

I wasn't really asking about the level of supply. More why they're more useful than having a laptop, phone etc.

Personally we have an ipad2 which I bought for the mrs, as she was always on the computer, And I needed to get on for work etc. I couldnt afford a laptop, and the phones too small to do most things.

Apart from the fact The ipad is small enough to want to use anywhere, you can download cheap games for the little ones, we also use it for playing films long journeys on the back of the car seat or on holidays.

Laptops can be powerful machines, my partner just wants to surf check emails, ebay facebook etc all of which the tablet is perfect for!

I'm with Gucci on this, people don't look at the real world any more, they just bury their faces in a screen of some sort or another every waking hour... he says ironically typing on an internet forum from his work computer!

Oh well, design something, tell people they need it, and away you go.
