England v Argentina

Well fellow Palace fans, cos of the time difference your about to find out what its like to watch football at 5am in the poxy morning !! Something that ive had to endure for 20 years now dammit. (well the 4.00 pm kickoffs)

Anyways, i'm going to be in a pub as close to Lygon Street as possible that is showing the game, and would like to invite fellow Palace supporting Melbournian's along to add some atmosphere, 7th of June friday evening at blow me down 9.30 pm Yahooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!. (hmmm thats 10.30 am england annit ?).

So before i find an adequate venue, (i'm open to suggestions on that, not the casino please or as a last resort) i would like to see who would like to come along.

I've already got about 8 or so coming along, mostly bemused aussies though. So will need some help translating the games finer points to my freinds.

heres hoping for a good turnout

I had booked that day off work months ago, then I got offered a new job (which is good because i've been looking for ages) and I have to start on the 7th June meaning i'll miss the game.....oh well never mind, with a bit of luck the extra money will mean i'll be able to travel to Portugual in 2004.

Err the Argentina game is on lunchtime in the UK Ozeagle. Sweden 10.30am and Nigeria 07.30am. So you are still on your antipideon own with your poor timings.

Will see Sweden match in a pub in Brum and the rest in Chile, thus I see Nigeria at lunchtime and the Argie match at about 17.30pm. My apartment as Fox Sports and ESPN for all the other stuff as well.

Oh and my girl likes footy. She even gave me the option of delaying my trip to watch England in England. Brownie points being earnt here, after all if I am not at the World Cup it doesn't really matter where the TV is situated.

Thats absolutely unbelievable. Probably up there with the worst I have heard. Cue loads of edgy blokes and pished off women.

Could be a great beer up though.

Game should finish about 2.20pm, best have taxis ordered. The hymn books and stuff leave in a big pile by the front entrance with a note telling people what side of the church to sit.

Reception locations are generally cheaper and require fewer heads for a weekday booking, 'tis true I'm afraid.

Mind you if the result goes the right way that's bonus material for your speech, and a guaranteed cheer for you.

And of course regardless of the result you can give your brother grief for picking that date anyway.

Right update for the "night of the year" well so far this year at least, for us in Melbourne,

Keepers arms hotel, (melbournes premier football pub) North melbourne, circa 8pm friday june 7th. kick of is at 9.30 pm melbourne time, i have at least 15 people coming now. wear your "Palace gear" and be there.
let me know if you are coming though cos this pub might get too crowded, there are plenty of others showing the football nearby apparently.

FYI channel 9 here, have made "richmond" afl team, take their start time of their afl game on that night back to 7.15pm, to accommodate the live coverage of the soccer on tv that night, much to the chagrin of this AFL dominiated city.

hmmm i have a weird feeling of patrioism towards my english side, 1st time thats happened in yonks
