Netflix launches in the UK today.

Remains to be seen if it's as much of a game changer in Europe as it was in the US.

is it me or is that site just plain awful? no search facility? i heard that the TV show Breaking Bad was on Netflix.

the only way i found it on their site was by typing "netflix breaking bad" into google.

I get the same service through LoveFilm although the latter is more expensive because they don't offer just an online viewing package at the moment. The online part of LF comes in addition to the normal disc postal service rather than as a stand alone product. I think LF need to address that urgently unless they want to be left behind (in the UK) by Netflix.

There's a 360 app available today and also one available on the Wii Shop Channel.

Way ahead of you. PS3, ipod and ipad all ready to go.

You can get netflix on Apple TV in the states, so that might happen over here.

However I suppose it will live or die in the UK based on content, lovefilm has not taken off online as the content is really limited. If Netflix get that right then it'll be as successful as it is in the states. Not sure whether there are legal issues behind lovefilm's content issues that netflix can sort or not.

It is crap in Canada. The choice is poor. The US has a much wider selection.
We have had it for about 8 months and the selection really hasn't improved.

I didn't realise it wasn't available there, I have it at $7.99 a month and plenty to keep me occupied and not paying $100+ for a cable/satellite package. No adverts either (unlike Hulu Plus).

The only thing I miss is sports but manage to find plenty streaming online...or just go down the boozer.

Got a Roku box so stream CNN, BBC World and plenty more as well.

Give it a try if it's free to do so, when I get bored I'll just cancel and get cable/satellite again!

Netflix is HUGE in the states, I don't have a regular TV/cable package in the US i watch all my stuff either streamed (iPlayer etc via proxy or Netflix) or downloaded.

I don't think it'll work as well in the UK as most big channels already have their own streaming/catch up services. Although if they manage to get the content right you never know..

Also Netflix US are pretty crap about updating their content and although most media is available to stream, there is still a fair mount that is only available via DVD rental (like LoveFilm etc)

Will it prove popular? Guess only time will tell.
