With BBC iPlayer/ITV Player etc etc I hate to say it but i really can't see NetFlix becoming a huge success in the U.K as it was in the US.
Take your point, but I do agree with what Dave said. OK, the selection may not ever be amazing, but I don't have Sky, so for £6 to be able to legally stream the likes of Breaking Bad, Dexter, Weeds, Californication etc., I don't think you can go wrong

And with the films, there are some good'uns on there, but they are tied by the various deals Sky have set up with major film companies (there's an article/interview with the founder somewhere in this thread).

It's good to see these 3rd party providers starting everywhere. International TV on demand is just about home and hosed now.

I would rather pay 10 bucks or so a month from a very comprehensive provider than download torrents.... we're not quite there yet though.
If you're running xbmc you don't need to put them in iTunes just point xbmc at them and they'll pay. Copes well with any h264 Mkvs and only sd content.

Depends what nowhere close means, I have just swapped my 2 Revos for two of them. If you have your collection in H264 MKV containers as most are then it plays pretty much everything I have thrown at it, it wont do Hi Def DIVX yet so if you have stuff in that container stick to the Revo.

They are cheaper, I see that. And I had the first gen so I expect the hardware is better. But it just seemed choppy and unsatisfying.

It's also pretty cool if you have kids as they love on demand stuff, especially when it's available on a Wii etc.

So for six quid I will probably keep a sub

Is it possible to subscribe to/get the US Netflix from the UK (via laptop)?

You can do it via a VPN - I use one that costs me about £3 a month and it seems to work, although at times the connection can be slow so quality dives a little. Roaming works for Netflix so you can use your US account.

Cheers, next dumb question VPN is a virtual private network right? How do you set one up / use one to do this?

Yes, It stand for Virtual Private Network..

I've got a VPN for To view the link you have to Register or Login Which i use when I'm in the U.S to access IPlayer etc, It has great speeds and is very reliable, there's also plenty of general VPN info on their site.

I imagine between me, the wife and the kids since we signed up we've watched a good 50+ hours. Plenty of decent content and plenty more to come.

If you have a PS3 it's very very easy to watch the US content too.

Just watched Mars Needs Moms with the kids, lots of different movies, pretty cool really and you don't need a VPN.
