Good riddance to him. Yes he is a special talent, but not a team player IMO, only reason he's kept on is because of what he threatens to do to a bowling attack... Although these innings are becoming more and more sporadic. I'd rather a batsman who consistently scores 40-50 plus than someone who will play one big innings every 10 or so games, with not much in between...

He's been one of the best in the world for the last 6 months. Had a couple of low scores but also contributed quite a bit.
I could see yesterday being his last test. The conference was pretty scathing to the ECB and the dressing room. It all depends what his issue is.

looks like there are some dressing room issues to be sorted out too. Are England tiring of the KP show?

Yeah if Pietersen's threatening to retire after the next test then the selectors pobably won't even pick him for it. I suppoe it gives Ravi Bopara another chance...

Every 10 or so games???? He has hit a century or double century in 5 of his last 22 test matches and a 50 in a further 6 since Aus in Brisbane 2010. In 44 innings (10 of which he didn't bat, 2 he was n.o) he averages 52.5! He scores a 50 minimum every other match, half of which he only bats once! Or he scores a minimum of 50 in 1 in every 3 innings? Little bit better than your 1 in 10 games wouldn't you say? His record in ODI's and T20's isnt too shabby for England either. No two ways about it, if he doesn't bat for England in any format, we are not as strong a side.

I think he's more pissed off by the journos. Either way he really doesn't seem like the most likable guy.

He doesnt seem to show much love for his teammate when he said
"im not waiting for straussy, Ive got to get home" I actually think it was a stupid idea to put him infront of the press. |

Disrespectful twat. Don't think he'd be too missed in terms of team morale tbh.
Really hope he doesn't retire, or Surrey will be lumbered with him ![]()

I wonder if he regrets chosing to play for England as opposed to his home country of South Africa????

Maybe im reading too much into it but I think he's had a massive fall out with Swann and hence swanns omission from the last test match.

I was merely responding about his ability and as a player for England. Nothing to do with whether he should play due to morale/team ethos etc He does seem arrogant, albeit, with a fair amount of reason to be so can understand where peoples opinions lie with regards to that. But he does seem to get a large amount of bad press. If what he says is true, about not leaking anything to the press, then it does seem like it was leaked to make him seem the bad guy, prior to the whole thing being revealed, like he talks about. It's far harder to change an already formed opinion, than it is to form an opinion from scratch.

According to some reports, Pietersen suspects some of his team-mates are behind a spoof Twitter account

Pietersen's decision has made him rich and famous, which he seems to enjoy. So on the whole I suspect he probably doesn't regret it, as had he stayed he probably wouldn't have either of those things.

KevPietersen24 KP Genius
Sorry KP's not been tweeting today. Had to get my head down because the other batsman can't do their job. Plus I'm batting with a child. About three days agovia Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply Now that one is quite funny, not sure what Taylor would think of it! |

Wondered the opposite and the fact they did not play Swann is what irritated him, clearly had not time to wait for Strauss afterwards. |

I think theres a major split in the dressing room, KP thinks one of his team mates is behind that spoof account and the prime suspects are jimmy and swann. I dont know if this is true but I read that they all used to follow each other on twitter and then swann and anderson removed him. I just cat see this working out and its a shame for everyone. |

You've made a lot of good rational points but sport is far greater than the sum total of your ideas. You can't seriuosly tell me than when KP was a child that he dreamed of one day playing for England. Playing against and losing to your home country can't be easy on the guy, although he's got plenty of mates to console with.
