I don't see what more the owners can do now to be honest. I can't imagine there are many fans who would have travelled to this fixture, who haven't at some time before been inconvenienced by a postponed (or even abandoned) fixture. West Country Palace fans still have the first game of the season at Exeter to look forward to (and Bristol City and Cardiff later in the season)

Perhaps we can make it up to them by giving them a visit from the Crystals to entertain at one of their home games when we are playing away.. I'm sure they'd rather have them anyway!

As someone who works and plays football in Bath - even putting aside the Palace fans this has shat on – I think you guys vastly underestimate what a big deal this game was to the city. Just anecdotally, around ten blokes I play football with on Wednesday were attending (one taking his two kids, for whom it was going to be their first ever game), and at least a dozen work colleagues. Granted, they're hardly big numbers, but I maintain it's bad form to dick a small club over because, well, it's a bit far away. (I've not yet read a better excuse.) In fact, judging by the CPFC 2010 post previously on this thread - 'try getting to Bath Spa from East Croydon by train in under three hours' - I don't think anyone at the club grasps that it's actually not that far away, and pretty straightforward to get to from Selhurst/Croydon. I wouldn't have moved here from South London and stayed for 7 years if it that hadn't been the case. (For the record, and seeing as you raised the question, it's pretty easily done by public transport in two and a half. The club did their due diligence to check this before cancelling the fixture, right? Oh.) I do think it's good of the club to reimburse those who'd pre-booked train tickets, but it does nothing to sway my viewpoint that cancelling the fixture was a naive and introspective decision. And if I had any kind of Photoshop skills I'd be posting a gif of a red-and-blue-shirted Mickey Mouse lounging atop an ivory tower below these words.

Swindon - Wiltshire, counts as the West Country so that game before the Exeter match is our next one.
In previous seasons when in the West Country, Palace have always had a good showing of Fans so no reason not to believe the same wouldn't have happened at Bath City. I'm sure there are a lot of disapointed Eagles Fans out there who were looking forward to the match. At least Palace have appeared to play the friendly at a later date. That might be difficult in the short term though because whilst we have 'free' weekends as a result of the internationals this wouldn't mean Bath City will be available those weekends.

Lets forget the Bath game and reconvene for the anti-nazi fest of Swindon away.

"Ivory Towers"
hahahahahahahahahahaha In all seriousness though this is a great shame. Pre-season friendlies against non-league clubs is a great way for league clubs to support their lower league peers and its disappointing that Bath have lost out over this. Hopefully we forfill our promise and give them a game later on.. Maybe a "Palace XI" fixture the day before Swindon or something, if not next pre season. Mind you just checking train time it would probably have taken me only about 15-20 minutes longer to get to Bath than it would Lewes as I'm central London based. I'm not going anyway so won't be complaining but can see why they're a bit snotty about this now. As an Aside, Whyteleaf can **** off ![]() ![]()

As long as they dont stink too much you can hand them over to the ticket office for 2 free tickets for the Burnley game. Phil and Lennie have both offered our apologies to Bath for the inconvenience caused and promised them a game in the future. The Palace fans who enjoyed a great night out in Lewes are not complaining too much although I appreciate that those in the West Country ate not so happy. Dougie got to play 23 players on a good surface an hour from home.
