Football League TV Deal
does anyone know when the football leagues deal with sky runs out?
with ESPN losing out on the premier league will they go all out for the champion ship or not have any English club football at all ?

The last deal netted the FL around only 8% of the Prem contract excluding parachute payments (and they really work against the FL anyway) Expect it to be similar this time.

I wish there were some enlightened money men would be able to see that the 72 League Clubs and the Non League structure, represent the majority of football fans in this country which, in itself, is a very saleable asset. Perhaps some of the owners should be trying to form their own league instead of kow-towing the the arrogant bastards at the FA and Premier League. Without the infrastructure the Prem will not be able to develop home grown talent and all the home nations will suffer. It's long painful demise without the funding

The problem is TV and greed of course. Whereas English fans care about Shrewsbury and Scunthorpe, foreign fans don't. Sure, it isn't an easy problem to solve but we have to do something!!

Sky's latest Football League contract runs from the next 2012/13 season until 2014/15. It was worth £195m, which of course is absolute peanuts compared to the new Premier League deal.

What pisses me off is that the best talent originates from the FL! Pump money into that and English football has a chance.

Last time England won a major competition, when the field was equal... Coincidence?

'Fraid not. You'd just have the usual suspects (Mandaric, dodgy Far East "consortia" etc) spending more money on Prem failures and exotics, and pushing wages up.

Will BT now make a bid for the football league rights ? they have got there foot in the premiership door but to me the football league would be a bigger catch for them

Yes but bt is now pushing its triple pack BROADBAND , TV , PHONE , on digital was just selling tv

If bt want to compete with sky as a provider of all services then surely the football league must now be on there radar

If BT want to compete they have to increase their share of the Premiership coverage, the Football League doesn`t have the same appeal.

We had a crap English side before the introduction of the Prem. Despite us having less players to pick from, the standard now is higher imo.

Average Premiership attendance 2011-12: 34,601
Average Championship attendance 2011-12: 18,824

Average League 2 attendance 2011-12: 4,434.

When you consider televison audiences the gap gets wider, it is unrealistic to claim that the Football league has greater appeal it simply doesn`t.

No football league on bbc and itv at the moment this season , it's all on sky .
I bet the monopoly commission isn't looking into this
