Website advice.
Need to set up a website for a Kindle vanity publishing project I have on the go.
Basic idea is to give away the first part of the book in the hope that it might encourage people to buy the rest. So I thought a website might be the best way of doing this as the Kindle publishing part of it is relatively straight forward and the website would effectively be the marketing tool. What I need are some recommendations for which is the best 'build your own' offers out there. Main requirement is that a dyslexic chimp would be able to understand how to do it along with it offering the ability for people to download the relevent text from it. Thanks. Thanks.

You can download a sample of any book on the Kindle store, so do you need a website to do this?

No but the website would be more of a stand alone marketing tool. Punt a website around with links to the Kindle store. Ditto with a facebook page and a twitter account. Been getting down with the kidz in terms of this new marketing stuff.

Would you still need a domain name ? Or could you attach a domain name to that ?

Optional. You can either use, something.wordpress.com or pay a small fee for something.com which points to Wordpress. Wordpress has some nice features, like being able to add 'pages' which are not blog posts

At the risk of now being hypocritical and shamelessly plugging my own blog. I set up: http://www.ritualofthestones.blogspot.co.uk/ over two years ago. I have never advertised it per se just stuck it at the bottom of signatures etc. Recently it has really picked up, I now regularly get 25 views a day.
My point? Blogs are an excellent tool and with facebook and twitter in support you should be able to build up far bigger numbers very quckly. |
