I just hope this is Freedman playing more poke as, if true, this would make it a very poor summer for us. Must keep patient but every day goes by and it's hard not to get more anxious. We are horribly short in key areas at the moment but Freedman knows this and I just hope he will bring in three or four more quality players.
He has always said that loans are a last resort and I agree with that. |

So even with the clearout we still have to rely on loans yet again, pathetic

If Baxter and Ramage sign we will be stronger than last summer. If McCormack finally signs we will be even stronger. Then loans will be fine.

Baxter and Ramage and Diaz plus a couple of loans and a goalscorer = Thank you.

Let's face facts. This summer has been all about cost cutting.
I don't necessarily disagree with it, but I think we need to have suitably low expectations about the season. I expect one of the loans to be McShane again. I think the club would happily avoid making expensive permanent signings of "experience" CBs and rather bridge the gap with loans of players paying part of their salary only. The disaster zone that is Hull has been and continues to be a goldmine for these. The other trend over the past seasons has been the signing of loan strikers from clubs who stockpile them. Any recently promoted Prem club is likely to be the source of these. So a striker from West Ham, Soton, Reading, QPR or Norwich looks likely to me. |

Yup agree with the above, I think when Steve mentioned last year was about stability and this season was about pushing on though I think that must have meant financially as unless Dougie thinks some of the youth can stepup we are so weak in areas. (Baxter and Ramage will help, just wish we'd gone for a puncheon type player too)

Why sell players that we can't afford to replace. Loans are a bad idea. If we are that skint we have a very bleak future ahead of us. Maybe league 1 or 2 is more with in our wage structure. People may say I'm negative but hey-ho, next season is looking a pretty poor prospect compared to a few months ago.

Loans only really work if they are with a view to a possible transfer, so an extended try before you buy. However if this is the case then i suspect we will have to wait a while as the prem squads won't be finalised until the latter part of the transfer window.

Really don't see the point in coming out and saying this, even if it is true.
Only reason I can think of that is behind him making this statement is that he wants teams to lower their valuations of players but its hardly going to fill the players with enthusiasm to join us is it? Having sold or released 4 of our better players and it being stated on here by CPFC2010 that we will have a 'competative budget', this statement is not good at all. |

Right players at the right fees.
Is not about opening Wallets or cost saving it is about spending wisely. |

What the **** is going on. Here's a good idea lets sell 2 good squad players and not replace them then moan about not having strength in depth.

Well you've just answered your own question. Trying to make the sellers realise that they are asking over the odds of the player is a haggle. If it seems from all angles that you can only go to a certain price, then it certainly won't harm your chances of not being taken for a ride. I also wouldn't worry what the players think. It seems that when they meet Dougie and he projects his image of the club they are very keen to sign on. It seems that (from all that we have heard) Ross McCormack is very interested in us. And, by the looks of it, not many others have enticed McCormack. Last edited by Windsor_Eagle : 01-08-2012 at 09:32 AM. |
