Munich
Thinking of going for 4 nights in October.

Any recommendations in terms of sightseeing/nightlife?

Visiting the Olympic Park and Allianz Arena is top of my list, as I'm so cultural.

went to munich a few years ago with the brewery i was with great place got to visit the hofbreu house its amazing lots to do its a great city you will love it. we went to a castle about an hours drive south that was amazing will ask mrs yorkshire eagle if she can remember the name

So many good beerkellars about the place that you can just wander about and find. The Hoffbrauhaus is a must though.

Dauchau is also worth a visit

I think soon it will be possible to go direct by train there. Something about the Eurostar lines being opened to other company's

It's pretty, with excellent beer halls, but quite conservative with a poor night life.

Caslte is Neuschwenstein in Fussen, can get a train from Munich easy enough then bus or cab is 10 mins.
Nightlife is good I think, also go to a place called Kultfabrik 5 or 6 stops on underground outside Central Munich, about 40 bars/clubs in an old industrial area, open till 9am in the morning. Caters for all music. Hoffbrauhaus is a must, but also got to Hoffbraukellar which is similar but less touristy and good outdoor garden. Engluishgarden also has a good beer garden by the Chinese Pagoda. Paulaner Brewery worthwhile as well.
You just need to hunt down the bars etc in the Centre as there is not one area where they all are, but they are there.

I've been to 3 German cities/towns: -
1. Dortmund (for 2 months)
2. Berlin (2 days)
3. Dusseldorf (1 day)

Disliked all 3. Ugly, industrial, not friendly, characterless, dingy UK style...

However, I've heard Munich might be different

I did not enjoy Munich when I went but it was tipping it down. Mates who know it quite well, rave about it. I do have fond memories of my trip to the BMW factory as I like things like that. I think it was Munich that has some lovely public baths, as well.

Yeah. Essentially it means that you can use Eurostar to also buy your ticket on connecting high speed lines. For some destinations, you can use your Eurostar ticket but I thought that was only within Belgium.
