BBC World Service
Since getting a DAB radio I listen to BBC World Service quite a lot. It's very good, but I've also noticed it's not as good as it used to be. There are a lot of repeats, and some if feels dumbed-down and low budget, like 'World Have Your Say' (like the programme but it feels that they prefer to skate the surface of issues rather than go into depth). There are some really good programmes though, like Global Business by Peter Day.

What does everyone else think?

If JZ has indeed suffered a misfortune (I don't know, but I would hope not) then it would really be quite sick to use it for the purpose of scoring points on the BBS, doncha think?

Here is a hopeless World Service anecdote. I don't remember who it is about, or the exact circumstances. I don't even remember where I heard it, but it might have been Desert Islands Discs.

[Insert Famous Person Here] was making his debut as a news reader on the BBC World Service. He was understandably nervous. He had his script ready and rehearsed and was sitting outside the news reading "booth".

With 5 minutes to go before his debut, a chap walks into the office and says "I feel sorry for the poor bastard reading the one o'clock news - the Czechoslovakian government have just this minute announced their new cabinet".
