Club Shop - shambles
Yesterday, I travelled from Essex to Selhurst to visit the club shop and buy this seasons home shirt for my lad ahead of the big kick off next week. It didn't enter my head that, one week before the start of the new season, that they would not be in stock.
Guess what?....you know the rest. Honestly? Can you credit it? I was then made the wonderful offer of having it posted out to me when they came in for £4.50. Absolute joke. Any other business would have bent over backwards having been told that a regular customer had undertaken a 50mile+ wasted journey and offered free postage. That was not the point though, I wanted to see the shirts to make sure I got the right size. I could have ordered on-line from home. How hard can it be to get enough stock in for the start of the season? I was after a Large size (L). Surely they must have an idea of how mant shirts they will sell in a year? Christ, they have another 9 months to sell out their stock bought in August. The club seem desperate for our cash but yet there I was, in all likelyhood to have spent £100+ if they had the shirt for my lad what with other bits and pieces I would have bought, and then I fell at the first hurdle. Shambolic. |

What's shambolic ?
The fact you made a long journey without checking with the shop it was in stock Or The fact you also failed to spot the several threads on here stating certain sizes hadnt been delivered yet and others had sold out ?

The thing that is shambolic is that one week before the new season the club shop do not have basic sizes of the home shirt in stock. I shouldn't have to check there was stock before making the jouney. I bet there are no other clubs who are nil-stock of home shirts in regular sizes one week before the season starts.
Do you think this would be OK in a business you ran? |

Steve Parish has said the shop will be fully stocked with home shirts for next Saturday . That's when the season starts , I've known seasons before when kit hasn't been available for the first game of the season

Haha.
Other clubs have template kits, ours have to be made, pipe down. |

And you think that's OK? AJ, do you not think they should have an idea of how many they will sell throughout at least the first three months of the season? And then order in the correct amount of stock? Whatever. I have seen enough seasons that I should have expected this. Sad but true. Things don't seem to progress at all and we all seem in a malaise of 'oh well, that's how it's always been so that's ok'. I can't believe people are defending this. |

Pretty sure Umbro have boxes of red kits to put a Nottingham Forest badge on and a sponsor logo and give to them.

They did have an idea of how much they would sell which is why i think Steve Parish said thats why they ordered a similar amount as last year..but wasn't expecting the demand to be so high. Its not their fault its sold out and more people bought the shirts than normal.

But I bet Forest have actually done agood enough job to ensure that Umbro have enough delivered into their club shop before the start of the season.

Well then their estimates are way off the mark. They have another 9 months of the season to go and they sell out before a ball is kicked? that makes it even more shambolic. |

I could, but my lad wanted to wear the new home shirt to the first game of the season, that's why I went to the trouble of driving an hour and a bit to Selhurst to make sure he had the right size, rather than guessing and ordering the shirt on-line. i personally don't think that it is unreasonable for a shop of a Championship club to make sure they had enough stock one week before the season starts. If they had over-ordered, there is always Christmas to shift them! Anyway, that's it for me with this...i am nearly getting as wound up as I was in the shop yesterday! ![]() |

A shame for you but, for the reasons others have given, not a shambles.
Things sell out. People telephone.

Sorry, but this is one thing that i have great sympathy for the op. you would expect the shop to have the shirts in stock at this stage. The club shops biggest seller is the home kit and the busiest time is surely a few weeks before and after the opening game. Would you expect to ring mcdonalds to make sure they had big macs in stock ?

I wouldnt call macdonalds. but If i was making a one hour plus journey for an item I would call ahead as to make sure its not a wasted journey. If it was just down the road, no big deal really.
