Bloody Rangers

Now i have not been too bothered about the Rangers situation in Scotland and had not issue with them playing in Division 3 - until now.

The issue is that until now the record attendance for a 4th tier game anywhere in the world was at Selhurst Park in 1961 when we played Millwall in front of 37,774.

That is now likely to be broken this weekend and several more times over the course of the season!

Do we think there would have been a higher proportion of bigots in the Millwall crowd, or the Rangers crowd?

Pales into insignificance compared to Celtic games.

I'm a Palace fan, talking on a thread in which Palace v Millwall has been compared to Rangers v East Stirling. Yet up pops a Rangers apologist to start talking about Celtic.

Quelle surprise

You have to hand it to them. Best supported club in Scotland. Couldn't see anyone else in the country matching that attendance in a Division 4 game.

Yes, I love it when people don't support their local team. It's great for football.

I think they might well, but really couldn't care. It was the sycophantic fawning over an arrogant club of wankers who suck the life out of the game that made the comparison. Rangers are vile. The old firm has been awful for Scottish football. There is nothing commendable about Rangers or their support, and I find it bizarre to see Palace fans fawning over them. It's the East Stirling fans who are great, not Rangers.

In English terms it's like praising all the 1000's of people who live near Selhurst Park but go to Stamford Bridge, The Emirates, White Hart Lane each week to watch their football.

Yep two vile clubs IMO. Why people outside of Glasgow are concerned with them is beyond me. Supporting your local team is so important. We should know that more than anyone.

Yes they would. The only reason that Rangers get big crowds in the lower tier of football is because they were demoted at one time. If they had been relegated by the normal process they wouldn't get the large crowds. The Rangers fans still see themselves as a SPL team who were punished for financial reasons not footballing ones. Back in the 80s when MU got relegated to the old Division One they got home crowds over 45000, iirc the Palace home game v MU saw over 40000 at Selhurst Park.

I don't want to be a pedant, but when man you were in division 2 in 74-75, we were in division 3.

You can't compare the English leagues to the Scottish in my opinion. The two league systems are miles apart in terms of strength in depth. Technically I live nearer to Whyteleafe than Selhurst, should I abandon Palace and support them instead?
