We all need to be realistic (2012/2013 Season)
I am sure everyone agrees that currently we should all be realistic about what the club can realisticly achieve this season.
I think it very sensible to think in this way. However when I ask myself what that actually means, I draw a blank. So to those in a far better position than me(those that can turn up and watch games, those that have some real understanding of the finances, the youth coming thru, can separate brain from emotion etc etc) please tell me what should be our realistic expectations for this and the couple of seasons that follow. |

Less depressing threads?
(Or do I mean 'fewer'?)

Top 6 this season and promotion in play offs, 2 years established in Prem League and then Champions League. If Dougie can't take us to this next level then he's not the right person IMO ps I want ave 3 goals per game over the next 3 seasons too.

To see some exciting football, a decent amount of Palace goals, our fair share of wins, not coming off worst against our rivals and a higher finish than last season.
I want to look forward to going to games with some anticipation that I might, on occasions, enjoy the afternoon / evening. I want my son, in his first season as a season ticket holder, to be rewarded for choosing Palace rather than taking the easy option of supporting a Premier League giant like all of his mates by watching a team that play with a bit of flair and passion. |

The gap in points between comfortably avoiding relegation and getting near the play-offs is rarely very big - that's why nearly every championship club that isn't going for automatic promotion starts with the aim of getting in reach of the play-offs.
Even considering our dwindling gate and sensible owners, there's no reason financially we can't be one of those looking to nip into the last couple of spots - build a solid championship team around Joniesta and Wilf, organise the defence well and get the tactics right and it's not an unrealistic expectation.

Steady improvement playing the football the right way leading to a higher finish than last season would be good enough for me
However, based on the pathetic nature of our first 4 games it is going to be the total opposite. Just can't see where 3 points is coming from |

I'm expecting us to 'give it a go' with our 'competitive budget'.

Gradual gelling and settling of a reasonably good Championship side after a shaky start to the season. Ultimately a midtable finish.

Well DF has said we've actually gone backwards, this was a season where we were supposed to not only improve on last season, but 'give it a real good go' Realistically, I doubt there will be 3 worse teams than us.

Sorry but I still can't see why everyone is worried about relegation. We're 3 games in, yes we have lost all 3 but we have injurys and new signings who went into the last league game having not trained with any of the team. Which we narrowly lost to a very good Boro team. Once the new guys have been here a few weeks and with new signings this week who's to say we won't win 3-4 on the bounce and be right back in the mix...
People calling for DF to b sacked are complete fools! Keep the faith, we're Crystal Palace after all! |

I simply wanted to know what the **** people meant when they used the word. When I find out, I may also, like you, be bored by seeing it repeated. Currently I am still fascinated to find out what it actually means. |
