Away fans in Arthur Wait
Bound to be a thread on this but I can't see it. Having got season tickets in the family stand for me and junior this year I can't help but notice that the noise from the away fans overshadows the noise from the family stand. Not only that, but more so against Watford, some of the away fans spend quite a bit of time trying to intimidate people in the family stand by pointing and gesturing. It doesn't affect me as we're behind the goal, but I'm sure it must be unnerving for some families with their kids who are nearer to the away section. I expect there has been plenty of debate on the subject but I'd rather see the away fans in the centre blocks of the Arthur and thus surrounded by home fans, or back where they used to be next to Block A & B of the Holmesdale. Thoughts?

Correct - there's been loads of debate on this, check the archives in "Discussion".
Ultimately I believe it was all down the cost of Supervising away fans away from the Holmsdale, despite us Whitehorse folk being against it, and as you say providing a somewhat hostile atmosphere at times, for a family section.

Don't like the idea of some away fans "giving it large" near the family end.....I'm sure there are logistical reasons for moving them but it was better where they used to be .....

Putting them in the middle of the Arfur = daft idea.
Much increased police/stewarding costs.

I know there's no easy solution but as I say, some fans, particularly during the Watford game, were clearly intimidating home fans in the family stand who, by the very nature of the section they're in, haven't come to 'give it large'. That would be Block A & B of Holmesdale.

Should have kept the away fans next to the Holmesdale.

Was in the family stand right next to the away support, lots of sheff wed fans gesturing towards us, bit intimadating for my 7 year old who I had to remind to watch the football instead and take his mind off the fans shouting towards us. Also, a fan climbed up the the steel column to the gantry and stewards managed to get him down during half time but then when trying to evict him a fight broke out with several fans and the stewards, no police presence at all. So now both my boys are glued to watching the fighting in the stand. When leaving the stadium up the corner of the stand we were subject to abuse and offered a fight. I personally think the decision to put the away support right next to the family stand where there were so many young kids needs a re-think.

Iam sure there are fans of ours as well giving it large but I reckon the away fans should be put in the whitehorse anyway as our fans make no noise at all behind that goal. Then there out the way they can be marched down to Thornton heath station rather than blocking off selhurst and norwood junction stations.
