Pub Crawl from East Croydon to the ground
Has anyone attempted this - I'm sure a few must have done from time to time.
Say if you start in the Porter and Sorter at 12 (if it opens earlier great). I reckon it would take around 35 minutes to walk to the ground from there without stopping in pubs so I reckon you could visit 5 pubs for a pint in each + walk to next pub in that time. Now pubs on the way, as far as I know, are: The Glamorgan, The Orchard, The Oval, The Builders Arms, The Windmill, The 2 Brewers, The Bird In Hand, The Selhurst Arms, The White Horse, The Pawsons Arms and the Clifton Arms. Now I haven't been to all these pubs. I suppose Porter and Sorter would have to be the first pub as its a good meeting place by the station. So its really the best 4 pubs out of those above that you could make a decent enough route out of. Have to be evenly spaced as well. My original guess would be: Orchard (12.30), Windmill (13.00), Brewers (13.30), White Horse (14.00), Ground (14.59). However, not bee to many of these pubs so would like to see if anyone has any better idea, also knowledge of slightly earlier openings would be handy. Obviously if we get a 5.15pm kick off because we're on sky one Saturday more could be included but assuming that is not the case. 4 pubs from the above: thoughts? (sorry if this should be in real ale thread or travel forum or something)

Initial thoughts, definitely sub in the Glamorgan for the Orchard, much nicer pub. Could then cut down Oval Road and hit the Oval, then onto the Buliders before swinging back round in a little loop to the windmill. Then over the bridge and carry on as you were!
Great idea!

never been to the oval or the builders. Any good? Thing is then you've used up 3 of the 5 before we've got to Lower Addiscombe road. Lot of walking with no pub after that. I reckon Alcohol will slow the pace as well

I was thinking of something similar the other day. But was thinking of doing it longer, and for charity or something.
Would be up for this though. Will try and get our beers into some of the pubs on the final list if we have enough notice.

Don't go to the White Horse first, you tend to get stuck in there

Moved away from Croydon a while ago, quite a while ago, but is the Drum and Monkey still going? Gloucester Road, I think it was.

Good idea this, though it'd be nice to get to the stadium in time to have a pint before going in, too!

The Bird in Hand in Sydenham Road may or may not be everyone's cup of tea

I've not actually been in there but last time I went past, pretty sure it appeared to still be open.

Drum and Monkey looks like a good shout on location alone as is a bit of a hike down Gloucester Road without refreshments. I might sub that in for the Windmill. I'm not sure it's realistic to do more than this (I've accounted for a bit of walking time now):
Porter n Sorter (noon) Glamorgan (12.30) Drum and Monkey (13.05) Brewers (13.40) White Horse (14.15) Ground (14.59) Does anyone know what time the Porter and Sorter opens? I'd its 11am could pop in there for a fry up and be in the Glamorgan by 12 freeing up another stop off. possibly: Porter n Sorter (breakfast) Oval Tavern (noon) Builders (12.30) Drum and Monkey (13.05) Brewers (13.40) White Horse (14.15) Ground (14.59)
