Danny Gabbidon
Is a free agent and currently training with Palace. Suggestion that we may be weighing up an offer.

One worry that I'd have is his height at his age. Maybe when he was younger he would've had better legs to make up for his smaller frame, but in his later years I fear that a 5'10" center-back might not cut it, especially when crosses are our weak point.

Would be a good signing, I think. Played in the Premier League for the last 5 years, if that's anything to go by.

He has been at the training ground the last few days. Good player, I'd be happy with this.

Surely we have enough defenders?

How old is he? He was a very good Championship defender in his pomp.
Edit. Turned 33 recently. I was surprised he was so short. He always seemed to have a presence that suggested he was bigger. Whether his body (build) is up to the rigours would be a decisive factor. If he was anything like as influential as, say Micky Droy or Andy Linnighan we should jump at the chance.

Should get rid of Martin. He is way out of his depth. Gabbidon as a replacement sounds good.

Would be a good signing to strengthen our depth in defence

Would be a great addition. But he's not fit enough.

Never thought Martin was anywhere near an adequate replacement for Tony G. He may be okay as 3rd, 4th centre back though.
Could we afford to have Gabbidon, Martin, Delaney and Paddy on the books where only two will play? Be a nice quartet if we could but there might be better uses of the money.

Thanks for your insight . . . . For what it's worth I think he'd be a quality signing and provide our squad with a bit more depth and experience should Delaney or Paddy get injured.
