Palace 3-2 Cardiff City - ratings & review
Freedman: Murray proved doubters wrong with Cardiff hat-trick
“People take time to adapt,” he said. “I’ve always believed in Glenn Murray, I know he’s a top striker and I don’t need to hear anyone to tell me he’s not. “Unfortunately he had his doubters last year. I just can’t see that, he’s a top striker in the Championship. “His performance today, not only on the ball but off the ball, was second to none. “I felt that he deserved his hat-trick because the amount of effort he’s putting into his game these days, on and off the field, tells me that he’s improved as a player. “Murray epitomises what we’re about right now.” http://www.london24.com/sport/champi...ick_1_1525999?

Wilf was the best player on the pitch yet again,he's so consistant for one so young, but you can't vote for him every match.I voted bolasie as he was outstanding as well IMO. Absolute joy being a palace fan right now

Bolasie my MOM
Lots of other great performances too Not impressed by Blake at RB, and thought Parr wasnt as good as Moxey was Tuesday, mainly because he wasted so many good opportunities going forward

Wasn't there, but surely Murray deserves MOM on the day he grabbed all three goals?

The sadness is the poll only lets you vote once.
I thought they were all good. Moritz or KG shade it for me. |

Great to see the formation working so well again.
There goals were totally against the run of play. Blake centre back, ward right back is the future and I hope we continue with it. Very harsh on leaving garvan out, but such is KG and Jedinak form its hard to disagree. Set pieces without him aren't so threatening though. KG has swapped KFC to pizza box to penalty box to penalty box, credit to him. If we could get Brady in we would have a decent shot at play offs. |

oooh - just how satisfying was that?
I turned to my mate at HT and said "we'll be doing well to salvage a point out of this" - and then in the second half we run out and tear Cardiff a whole new one. I've given Murray MoM for his hat-trick and the fact that he put in his usual tireless shift up front today... but in all honesty there's half a dozen players who could justly lay claim to the award. Both Bolasie & Zaha terrorised the Cardiff defence all afteroon, Moritz looked so composed in midfield, and after two horrible lapses of concentration that delivered Cardiff their 2 goals in 2 minutes, the back four then turned in a fine performance as well. Special mention to the Palace faithful who were a wall of sound today - even when we were 2 down. And how much fun was it to p*ss around with the ball in the Lower Holmesdale when we were in front after the sheep shaggers did the same when we were coming up to HT..? One happy bunny here in Honor Oak tonight! Last edited by Andy in Rome : 22-09-2012 at 05:50 PM. |

Great effort to drag ourselves back into this game. Can't fault anyone. Moritz made up for a quiet first half with a better 2nd, Wilf, Bolasie, the tireless Murray, ever improving KG and the ever consistent Jedinak. All of 'em, superb comeback.
The only downside for me today was the young(ish) Palace fan sitting near me. Didn't get excited at any point and at 3-2 said 'it's hard to get excited about 2 pens and an own goal' Why do you even bother coming mate? In the last 3 weeks the performances have been soooooooo much better and to come back against one of the promotion favourites and grab a win like that is some effort regardless of how the goals went in. That was a top effort and Murray should get the 2nd anyway!!! If you can't enjoy a comeback like that from a young side just learning to play together then why that fella in question even bothers is beyond me.

Taking Murray's hattrick out of the equation, my vote is for KG

Awesome performance today. Absolutely tore them apart from the off apart from 10 mins after they went 2-0 up. Their first goal was against the run of play and the second was something out of a half chance. Last year we could have gone home at HT but we were so good in the first half I lobbed £3 on us at 25-1 !
Defence looked more solid with Blake at CB. Jedi won EVERYTHING. He was immense. Anything left over was won by KG. What has happened to him. He was everywhere, playing through balls, tacking, chipping cross field passes !! Moritz looks excellent and he gets stuck in aswell. Bolassi is so dangerous and also tracks back and tackles. Wilf, was wilf and FFS was brilliant at linking up. In short...a satisfactory performance Impossible to give a MoM !!

Awesome performance by fans and team alike. Even at 2-0 down I felt confident.
Speroni 7 Little to do no chance with goals. Blake 7 Adapted to CB well Parr 8 Much improved Ramage 6 Not his day Delaney 7 A few dodgy moments today but mostly solid Dikgacoi 9 Bossed the midfield all day Jedinak 8 Ditto Moritz 8 Shows his quality constantly Bolasie 10 Like a wasp on acid!! Zaha 9 Has started to pass as well as the tricks! Murray 9 Led the line well good layoffs and 3 goals Ward 7 Looked good again, very composed Williams 8 Another wasp on acid! Moxey 7 Did his job well, good overlapping with Parr Palace werre quality today. They look like they could take anyone at anytime. We did not deserve to be 2-0 down at HT and the team responded to the amazing support they received. In our last two games we have dominated two sides who are expected to be challenging for auto promotion this season. I said I would be happy with 3 points from our next 3 games which we have already so anything we get at bolton and wolves is a bonus. DF made the tough call and rested Garvan for moritz and it worked. Murray played much better with someone playing further upfield and with Bolaise and zaha on the wings terrorising their full backs we looked like a quality side. Finally, how the hell did hudson not get booked!!!!!

He wasn't, though. For anyone having trouble distinguishing between Bolaise and Zaha, it was simple enough - you just waited until the final ball was made. Bolaise was even excellant in tackling back because he has a brain, he doesn't jush rush in like our young striplings do. I can't believe we've actually gone out in August and got hold of a player who I believe is better than Zaha. He's brilliant. |
