Things Science Can (In Theory) Explain That Still Leave You Dumbfounded
I'll start with this latest picture from Hubble. Apparently if you held a penny up 75 feet away from you in the night sky it would just about cover the the part of the universe represented in this picture.

Now I know we have a 'rational' explanation for all of these galaxies. But I still find myself not quite believing it...

That area also has around 1.1 trillion stars!!!!! 5500 galaxies x an average of 200 Billion stars per galaxy

On the bbc website it shows the area in relation to the moon. There are probably 200 trillion stars in the area of space behind the moon!!!!

Its also amazing to think that the light from those galaxies has taken in some cases up to a billion years to reach us. So what we are seeing is how those galaxies looked then. Its a picture of history.

They are also travelling at vast speeds, both spiralling and in a direction.

Some of those galaxies may have collided and formed larger galaxies of may no longer exist at all!!!

this photo is way more historic that 1 billion years.
One galaxy in the picture is thought to be seen just 460 million years after the Universe's birth in the Big Bang. So that's about 13 billion years ago.
