I dont know if this sounds a bit desperate but...
Would it be any good for Palace fans to tweet or email Manish at the Football League Show, or email the BBC to campaign for Palace to have more extended highlights. If the stay at home fans can actually see the exciting stuff being served up it might encourage them to come back to Selhurst to see it for themselves? Just a suggestion. |

A bit more presence in the local town centres to raise awareness might help eg Croydon, Bromley, Orpington even if its a mobile unit parking up the pedestrian areas at certain times. It could sell tickets and merchandise too? When in Istanbul Besiktas seemed to do it in the big square there quite successfully.

Sabotage train & tube lines departing northward from Wimbledon each Saturday lunchtime, thus forcing the Chelsea/Fulham "casuals" to divert via the Tram to Croydon and then Selhurst

By far the best tools we have are the base of lapsed Palace fans and the word of mouth of existing fans. Proper incentive schemes to reward STHs/members who convince their Palace fans mates who don't currently attend to return to Selhurst Park, with club shop vouchers or a free ticket after a certain number of referrals for example, would be the way forward IMHO. If I knew I would get some freebies out of religiously convincing lapsed fans I know to come back, I would be on their case constantly.

I think the club should look at bringing in a specialist consultancy, many of whom will guarantee some kind of improvement after employing their services.
If there are companies out there who can walk into organisations and improve their sales or can go into shops and improve their footfall then I imagine there is someone out there who could help fill Selhurst up!

More publicity on public transport in the area, Should have advertising on the sides of buses that pass through South Norwood,Selhurst, Heath.
Advertising on Southern trains and London Overground, If these services are coming through our area we should have something about Palace up and about. Also can't we do any deals regarding purchases made in the club shop? Eg spend over £50 and get £10 off a ticket or for every child replica shirt bought you can get a half price childs ticket?

Just continue to play in the way we have over the last three games. We have to start winning consistently, get up into the top six and stay there and the casuals will swarm back. Marketing can do only so much. Nothing breeds success like success, Dougie!

Its gonna take time
For years we have been treated with contempt by owners and there has been no consistency, either in team building, style of play, transfer policy, etc People will not come flocking just cos its cheap, the Family Day next Saturday is a classic example, seats being sold for peanuts, £1 kid tickets, £5 and £10 charity tickets being sold yet the ground will NOT be sold out nor anywhere near it, mates of mine struggle to give their ST away if they cant make a game cos people often just cant be bothered. I really feel we need to have more of a presence, consistently, in the local area and more importantly win games with flair and excitement, engage more with the media, local and national, to put over a consistent upbeat exciting message about Palace, then, perhaps, we will begin to see the fans return |

An idea from my brief stint doing B2B sales.
Employ a few sales representatives/agents on a basic salary with commission for successful sales. Send them to schools, and town centres with some unique special deals. In the event of visiting schools, take a coupld of nplayers to sign autographs etc. E.g. Family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) for £60 with a free drink and chips from the chip van before the game. We should target this before family days especially. I would do the job myself! Lovefilm did it, and they were successful. That's just for a sodding film subscription. |

I heard an advert on the radio on the way back from the game on Saturday, I think it was Budweiser about 'sofa generals', thought it was quite funny. Shame some people are happy having a SkySports season ticket watching Man Utd on tele rather than supporting their local club.

I know of a few Palace fans, that live within 3 miles of the ground, that would rather have a TV season ticket to watch Palace than traipse up to Selhurst for games, cost not being an issue. And these are over 40s, not your new modern 'footie' fans, that used to go loads in the 70s, 80s and early 90s but just cannot be arsed with all the hassle (sitting down, no smoking, price of drinks, etc) anymore Last edited by Harry Holmesdale : 28-09-2012 at 01:50 PM. |

Isn't TAG, the company Steve Parish was (is?) involved in, something to do with marketing?

If you have 5 or 6 seasons on the trot where you never look likely to hit the play off's (I haven't checked the exact figures). You will get small crowds. Chuck in a recession on top.
If we challenge again we will get bigger crowds. I am not sure 3 games of "an attacking brand of football" is enough to be honest. |
