Good to see there transfer policy of buying anyone over the age of 30 and giving them big long term contracts is paying off.

Can anyone see a Portsmouth like situation occurring there? The similarities are quite striking.

Huge wage bill. Old ground, with a small capacity which needs knocking down and building again. No real commercial/hospitality income. Rented training ground. Young owner who seemingly is only in it to get a bigger profile for his other businesses, the airline and the hotel group and 'capture the asia market'.

I think that Hughes is failing big time.Warnock did better on a much smaller budget. If they are cut adrift in the bottom 3 by the end of this month he will be gone but they may well be beyond saving. As you say TMH , that is when the proverbial will hit the fan.

Well Portsmouth had good players didn't they, they just couldn't afford the fees/wages which was a wee bit of a minor issue. But you are right, some of the dross at QPR is quite something.

Just had a look at the squad.

The wages that Green, SWP, Cisse, Park, Johnson, Bosingwa, Zamora and Julio Cesar on must be frightening, after all every one came from a fellow Premiership club and Inter.

I;ve read that Green alone is on £40K a week.

EDIT - Also remember that the Portsmouth players had some form of re-sell value, ie Crouch, Defoe, Kaboul, Pennant, Muntari. You can't say the same for QPR.

The problem with all this talk of teams going down and being financially crippled is that it's just not true anymore. Parachute payments are now set at such a ridiculously high amount of money, that it allows Premiership teams to throw money about like a millionaire nympho in a brothel and still be financially secure should everything go tits up for them. The advantage that the relegated teams hold over the rest of the teams in the Championship is astounding (not to mention grossly unfair,) and is detrimental to the FFP rules that were brought in in an attempt to try and encourage clubs to stop throwing money around.

QPR have massively overspent, not on quality players that could take the club forward, but on absolute sh#t. The only travesty here is that they will never be punished for their mistakes/stupidity as the parachute payments they would receive should they go down will not only allow them to go down and be ok, but put them in a prime position to bounce straight back up to the Premiership.

Good to see that splashing out money on mainly overrated players and paying them huge salaries, doesn't always work.
