We'd have to have him back. No compensation would mean that we'd have to pay up for a new manager and be massively out of pocket. Personally I could forgive him too. It would blow over eventually, and we need continuity to our team. He'd get to preserve his legend status somewhat. It might also give us fans some more realism, and not just blindly back him. I reckon it could actually turn out to be a positive thing if this happens.

i have to admit I'd find it slightly amusing. Not sure where we'd be in terms of contracts because I doubt he's handed in his notice

I would be very happy if he came back and CPFC2010 just told him to **** off.

He's made his bed and he would have to lie in it.
Even if we don't get compensation and have to let him go ourselves we must. Why would he even want to comeback? I think he's too proud to return with his tail between his legs as Maz has alluded to. He clearly wasn't happy with something behind the scenes, whatever it might be it's unlikely that would have changed in the past 2 days. Suprised Gartside hasn't announced it yet though, seems a bit strange considering we have confirmed he has left the club. Would have to be a monumental **** up somewhere along the way for it not to happen.

depends if it was him or Bolton that pulled the plug. If he slept on it and realised the grass isn't greener and he'd made an error of judgement, I'd happily have him back. Even without the bostock caveats we usually apply to this kind of things (must flog himself with a knotted rope in the centre circle at half time during the 2nd weekend of November kind of thing)

I'd tell him he's been a very, very, very naughty boy talking to Bolton in the first place and then I'd send him to Coventry*

Sky Sports News have just said that Bolton have told their caretaker manager to prepare the team for Saturday as we have yet to agree on compensation for Freedman......

It would be interesting to say the least. Would save a lot of time and effort.
Maybe Dougie has a strange sense of humour and it was just a prank

To knowingly miss any competitive match for a club is the end of the line for any manager. His heart couldn't possibly be in it anymore if he is willing to miss a match. If he really harboured any intention of staying then he should have told the board and Bolton to discuss this on Wednesday after the match. This tells me he wanted to be gone as soon as possible and now he is.

Tough cookie!
No way can he come back and resume his original role as manager. If the club were forced to take him back somehow, then he could become Fleming's assistant fitness coach. |

They want to keep their backroom staff, Dougie doesn't ?
Nah really can't see it falling through.

He will be announced as Bolton manager, its all nonsense, no doubt to do with sorting out backroom staff

Probably backroom staff is the sticking point - I think Bolton have said Phillips and Lee would be part of any new set up - DF probably wants LL and CF with him, so although compensation may have been agreed for DF it will be a separate negotiation for LL and CF I would have thought.
