Was just about to post this myself. Can a mod add Groupon offer in the title? Will probably attract more attention then

I suppose it gives the Br*ghton fans something to talk about on NSC. Just hope all these cheap deals don't start to undermine the perceived value (savings) of season tickets.

Let them talk - this is the sort of stuff that we were bemoaning Jordan about when Charlton were doing everything right in the marketing dept and we were doing everything wrong. If it puts bums on seats then why not? It's not as if we don't know that our current attendance is low.

Derby do it. Lots of clubs are now doing it.

Glad the club are doing this to swell the gates and even though i am a season ticket holder i don't see it as a problem .
Anything that generates a better atmosphere and brings in more revenue has to be applauded ![]() |

You know what I bet if I had used all the deals and brought Selhurst 12s etc I prob could have saved myself some money on the season ticket. But so what? Ive got a seat that a like and I dont have to piss about every week sorting out tickets. I when we get to the Prem next year I will still have it when the plastics come out. If it gets the Arthur Waite full (and not empty as usual) whilst generating a bit more income im all for it. |

FWIW I agree 100%. I'd always recommend people get a season ticket, even if it slightly 'doesn't save', not only on the basis of the saving of hassle, but also for the priceless priority status it gives with regard to away tickets, play offs, Wembley (here's hoping!) etc. I have seen occasional negative comments by S/T holders on threads though about the number of cheap offers regularly going round. SB has said recently though that he will always ensure that season ticket holders must get the best deal. I do personally think these groupon offers would be best directed at evening home games where the actual attendances are worse than at Saturday fixtures, or is it a case that at games like Ipswich (H) on Tuesday we literally wouldn't be able to GIVE tickets away, coming so soon after a Saturday home game?.

Yes, I've seen the article, and the thread in "Questions to CPFC2010" about it. The crucial part of the article is around the 'mindset' of season ticket holders, as explained:- Crucially, the whole system works by changing the mindset of season ticket holders - loyal supporters who always pay less than anyone else and who traditionally feel aggrieved if a club slashes prices for 'casual' fans. Julian Jenkins, director of international marketing and special projects at Cardiff, explains. He told BBC Sport: "We have to educate the season ticket holder that no longer are they paying the same price for every game. "If someone buys a season ticket which costs £329, they will divide that in their head by 23 games and say that they pay £14.30 a game. "What they won't say is that the Bolton game may cost them £20, and the Barnsley game on a Tuesday night may be £8 to them. If they accept that variety, that allows us to discount the Barnsley game down to £10 for other ticket holders." However CPFC haven't yet sought to change this mindset...the marketing for the new half season tickets (only a few days ago) stated:- "tickets cover 12 games and prices start at just £5 per game for kids (up to U18). £9.58 for students and OAP's (age 65+) and £15.83 for adults." Also, the whole point of "Dynamic Pricing" is that "the nearer you get to matchday, the more likely it is that the price will rise." In reality, at Palace with Groupon offers and suchlike, the nearer you get to matchday, the more cheap offers start to appear. Someone could well have paid £60 for the pair of seats in the Main Stand last week, only to see them now available for £25 via Groupon. Are these 'casuals' going to be as understanding as season ticket holders? I think they are most likely to change their buying habits in the future, to 'hang back' to see what bargain ticket offers appear late in the day. I already know fans who only come when it's family days. They are quite happy to miss the 'category A' games and just wait until the next cheap game comes along. I don't know what the answer is to be honest, and I'm glad there'll be several hundred more bums on seats against Blackburn, but somehow we need to be bombarding these fans with marketing, in the hope they'll come back when there isn't a special ticketing offer. Hopefully Wilf and the team will also be great incentive for them to return too.

I have a £5 voucher code for Groupon which needs to be used by tomorrow. If your planning on buying this Groupon then you can have it. Means the tickets will only cost you £20. First person to PM me gets it.

As a season ticket holder, I buy a season ticket to support the club. In return I expect to get priority treatment for big games etc, rather than super savings. Anything that gets more fans into the stadium gets my vote

I'm a season ticket holder and feel these should be used for games where the attendance is expected to be low - evenings, lower positioned sides. I would of said Blackburn would be one of the highest being a relegated side.
I bought a friend a ticket from Palace direct only yesterday. A bit annoyed I paid £22 for one ticket when I could now get two for £25! ![]()

These days it always pays to do some research before shelling out as all sorts of companies sell their products and services at different rates . How many people on a plane /on a package holiday or watching a play at the theatre have paid the same rate ? Football clubs need to adjust prices literally on a game to game bases due to A- how well the team is playing B- the Attractiveness of the opposing team C- the importance of the game. I have a season ticket and was happy with the price i paid at the time , so i am not bothered if other fans get tickets for some games cheaper than me. Croydon commitments are selling tickets for the Ipswich game for a £10 if you are looking to buy for that game |
