Oh and he did say that his mate had seen plans for the ground and it was suggesting an Anfield type extension to existing stands (with a face lift). Current focus is on funding at the moment though.

Funding it? Isn't that what the Americans £100m is ring fenced for?

I genuinely couldn't care less if the ground is developed or not. I know it's a bit ropey in parts but as many have said, it helps create a good atmosphere and it's different from the soulless bowls you regularly now see. A bit of an upgrade wouldn't go amiss I guess but it's home.

People on here seemed impressed with what Bristol City had done, and I believe I read it cost them 35 Million.

Basically we have 3x that in the kitty - surely something can be done? I don't think anyone is looking for a Liverpool type stand?

Bristol City looks excellent. If you go around the back of the stand the concourse is impressive too (although the turnstiles could be very easily jumped!) - light and airy, lods of space.

I imagine when Palace do the Main Stand, it will cost a fortune though, as they will want to really cram in the corporate areas, bars, restaurants, kitchens, lounges, proper press interview rooms, bigger changing rooms, bigger boardroom, lifts, decent disabled facilities, probably a tv gantry on that side and so on. It's gonna be huuuge as you only get one go at doing it

Even at current interest rates, it'll be £200,000 the time any development gets underway!

Very impressed with Bristol City's stadium. Think we're both in the wrong leagues.

Will be watching this renovation closely, 25 million is a complete bargain. Suits our tiny footprint down to the ground. So hope that we don't get left behind with Charlton and Millwall and miss this opportunity to grow.

Must be London costs i guess mate. Even so its a massive difference in cost for an arguably worse outcome isnt it.. what costs 25 million euros to build in Dresden shouldnt cost that much more in Bristol or London though, especially with german efficiency and ingenuity.. I just hope we recognise that this is the one shot we have at building something really special and loud.. Probably in most of our lifetimes.

Selhurst Park Redevelopment

Absolutely and the sort of thing you only get one shot at so it has to be spot on.

You can’t redevelop a stadium and then go two years later “we’re not sure now, can we have another go please?”

Exactly. Dresden seem to be getting quite a lot of stadium for 25 million euros there.. Thats one player these days.. Compare that with the ridiculous bodge at Liverpool and what that cost.

All the while we are in the Premier League it is too small.
