Henman v Ferreira
I turn away from the TV after Henman wins the first Tie break and then look what happens: 7-6 (8-6) 3-6 2-2
Can Henman get past Ferreira?

Who cares what he does. He makes somebody with a large chicken bone stuck in their throat appear a third-rate choker.

Henman has no fight, and although technically the better player than Gregg he has no personality and doesnt seem to have any desire to win.
GO GR E GG!!!!!!!!

Boy came good in the 4th set, but all started going his way from the dodgy line decision

Ferreira fell apart in the 4th, he was not the player that played in the third set. He was frustrated and angry and tightens up, he has a tendency to lose his temper a lot and it probably has cost him a consistent place in the top 20. Henman played reasonable but he has to improve if he is to have any chance

Tell me about it! I met him back in March, in London, and I was talking to the bloke for about 20 minutes. And do you know what, in all that time he never said a bloody word. Not a dickie. I haven't been back to to Madame Tussuad's since then. |

The guy has dreamt about winning Wimbledon for years and says that it consumes his thoughts. Thats a bit unfair to say he has no desire.. Greg used to be quite good couple years ago but doesnt really match Henman now except for being a better server. |

he's a better server and he's got a better forehand and backhand slice. Henman has no real big weapons, sure he can volley well but he has to set up to get to the net and that's where i think he fails a bit, people like Hewitt pass him with consumate ease

He's maybe got better shots but he's a much less consistant player. We used to wince every time he was forced onto his backhand until he developed the slice but his groundstrokes simply arent as consistant as Tim Henman's and I think the only reason he looks flashier is because he takes bigger risks. He's hot one day, cold the rest of the week.. thats partly why he's dropping out of the top 30 while Tim became a No.4 seed..
You also cant trust his injury record.. I'd take Henman over Rusedski. |

Henman for me. One has to wonder how Rusedski would have fared (not that he's done all that well anyway) if he had to put up with the pressure that Henman faces every year.
On Henman, whilst you would have to say that he was lucky against Ferriera you couldn't begrudge him a bit of luck after the bad luck he has often encountered in the past (last year against Goran with the rain delays and dodgy call in the fourth set being a perfect example). If you're a fatalist you could be excused for thinking that maybe the luck is finally with him this year. An interesting fact that I discovered on the weekend is that Henman has never won a tournament on grass. Quite astounding when you consider his style of play or maybe an indication of the pressure he is under at this time of the year. One bonus for Henman is that despite popular opinion, he may not have to play Hewitt in the semis if he gets that far. Everyone seems to think that Hewitt is a shoe in to get to the semis, but that mightn't happen when you consider that grass is Hewitt's worst surface and that: 1. He plays Youhzny in the next round who got to the fourth round last year before losing to Rafter in four sets. 2. If he gets past Youhzny he will then probably play Shalken who's pretty good on grass also and is in great form at the moment. Even playing Hewitt in the semis isn't that bad, certainly better than having to play the Goran of last year, a fit and properly prepared Rafter or Sampras at his peak.
