Into excel, since 1921, so over the past 89 seasons, Brighton have a higher average attendance than Palace on only 19 occasions.

There average attendance is 11,220, ours is 15,730.

There highest was 26,236 ours was 30,167

So where has this idea amongst the Weed that they have a massive support come from? Open a new stadium, give away a load of free tickets, get a bounce. Give it a decade then brag

Although in fairness they have only spent 25 seasons outside the bottom two leagues to our 51, and 4 seasons in the top flight to our 14. So they are much more small time

How much money has Bloom got behind him? Presumably he won't want to sustain many more losses this...

The thing is, in the long run Brighton will realistically become an established Premier League side barring a huge f*ck up. They do have the stadium and an enormous catchment area. Even if Bloom pulls the plug, they are an attractive proposition for a millionaire with more money than they know what to do with...

He is richer than Croesus but spends his life as a hermit so he can whack it all on Brighton, according to NSC.

To be honest it shows how crazy Championship football is. Palace's business model was sensible but still predicated on selling a key player at least once a year for good profit. We have successfully sustained a conveyor belt of young talent over the past few years, including selling Routledge, Soares, Watson, Bostock, Moses, Clyne and Zaha to try and keep us afloat (although even that approach failed when Jordan's money ran out).

Sad to say that football in the Championship requires a sugar daddy. You cannot run the business sensibly and make money, you can only try and control the losses and hope for a lucky run into the Premiership. People should remember this when they demand the club shell out £7M + £50k a week for the likes of Long & Jelavic.

The only (dark) pleasure one can take from Brighton's figures is the fact that the constant prattling on about how they were the bigger and more well run club doing things the right way may well cease (for a while). Maybe they'll look under the bonnet when they spend stupid money on big name players in the future.

A quick check on NSC and they still have no idea of what Bloom's actual wealth is.

I was asking a mate about Bloom's wealth and why it was so difficult to work out where Bloom's money came from. His response was that Bloom spends shed loads of money, is a major client of Amex, and has loads of investments. The indication was that you cannot spend that much money if you dont have loads of assets and liquid investments.

I'm guessing my mate has never heard of Allen Stanford.

google him. There's nothing about his wealth apart from a Sunday Times article saying he's worth 50m and a 1m profit on selling his internet gaming business

They had a punt at the prem and blew it. At least the team that took it away from them wasn't a hated rival, that would be too much to bear.

They've maxed out matchday revenue in that league. Unless they wack the prices up of course........

Will be interesting to see what their average will be after an average season.

How on earth can you have:

- The biggest gates in the Championship
- Highest net spend per customer by many multiples
- Various other bits i'm sure Andy will tell us about shortly

And still make £14m+ loss? Player purchases are treated as assets so the cost of a player is spread across the life of the contract so it can't be that. The expenditure on the stadium will be treated in a similar way. I know they've tried to bring forward some costs to get round FFP but how do they get to such a loss? Looks like Bloom et al really gambled or even relied on getting promoted last season but couldn't manage it (can't remember why, any offers?)

With losses like this from the revenue they generate they need to hope that the crowds don't start drifting due to the Premiership dream that so many took for granted not materialising. Just shows what a rubbish business model owning a football club brings

Generally, how much do gates really affect overall revenue anyway?
